* Senior Environmental Engineer, Petrofac International, Sharjah, UAE – BTC/AGT Pipeline Project, Azerbaijan/Georgia (July 2003 – current date ).

Field operations co-ordinator for environmental and social issues for the above ground facilities of the BTC/AGT Pipeline Project (Azerbaijan and Georgia), overseeing a total staff of 6 personnel at 3 sites. Key responsibilities include a) development and implementation of contractor control plans and procedures in line with ISO14001, b) co-ordination and undertaking of all necessary baseline surveys including noise, biological and infrastructure studies, c) development and implementation of audit, reporting and monitoring schedules and protocols, d) reporting of environmental and social performance in line with project KPIs, e) development and implementation of the waste management system and pollution control procedures, f) training package development and delivery to site personnel on social and environmental awareness, including specialist training in waste management and pollution control, g) development and implementation of relevant Emergency Response Procedures and co-ordination into the overall site response plans and procedures, h) task risk assessments to address health, safety and environmental issues associated with all project works and i) a lead role in incident reporting and investigation, advanced safety audits and the safety training observation program.

* Senior Environment/Safety Adviser, Worley Pty Ltd, Australia (November 2001 – July 2003) – Provision of environmental advice to major oil and gas, infrastructure, and mining projects for all global operations. Provision of safety HAZID workshop services. Provision of support for meeting statutory obligations required of Australian and global operations, both in-house and for external clients. Specialist services in environmental impact and risk assessment, environmental strategy development and environmental management system planning and implementation for large oil and gas projects and mining operations in Western Australia, Greenland and East Timor. Experienced in dealing with issues associated with niobium and iron ore operations, including water management, rehabilitation, spoil and waste management, off site discharges and product handling. Senior Environmental Adviser to innovative sulphide deposit subsea mining project with Nautilus Mining. Government liaison and community/stakeholder consultation program planning. Field Operations Manager coordinating rehabilitation programs for the Kambalda to Esperance Gas Pipeline.

* Environmental Liaison Officer, Office of the Minister for the Environment and Heritage (July – November 2001) – Senior secondment to assist transition of new Government into office. Responsible for high level negotiation between Government office and regulatory authorities. Coordinated stakeholder meetings on major State development projects.

* Environmental Assessment Officer, Department of Environmental Protection, Australia (September 1999 to November 2001) – Senior assessment officer responsible for assessment of major infrastructure development in Western Australia, including port upgrades, transport corridors, water and gas pipelines. Contributed to assessment of major road alignments through sensitive environmental areas. Development of environmental management systems and auditing protocols. Undertook major assessment of iron ore handling operations at Port of Esperance and assisted in the assessment of operations at the Portman Koolyanobbing Site. Provided peer review for monitoring programs as required under conditions of Ministerial approval.

* Environmental Scientist, BSD Consultants, Australia (May 1998 – September 1999) – Environmental project planning officer responsible for environmental assessment of major infrastructure development, including industrial development and road alignments. Project manager for the Tonkin Highway extension (Western Australia), a project requiring the assessment and management of sensitive environmental and social values including wetlands (and appropriate offsets), heritage values and storm water management.

* Research Scientist, Edith Cowan University, Australia (June 1997 – May 1998) – Chief research scientist responsible for the co-ordination of a major government funded research initiative to investigate the design and function of artificial wetland systems. Project management of a budget in excess of $1 million dollars and co-ordination of a multi-disciplinary team. Highly complex monitoring procedures and reporting involved.

* Program Officer, OSIENALA, Kenya (November 1995 – January 1997) – Project management of various environmental projects in the Lake Victoria basin, working alongside local counterparts. Responsible for project outcomes in a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural environment, ranging from water quality monitoring programs to waste management strategies.

* Environmental Scientist, Australian Antarctic Division (November 1992 – October 1995) – Responsible for planning, implementation and analysis of antarctic research program, including development of waste management strategies, impact assessment of activities and safe working environmental protocols for antarctic field operations. Appointed Search and Rescue Team Co-ordinator and laboratory manager.
