Staff/Project Geologist (Geotechnical Division) Denver, CO 2002-2008
* Performed geologic mapping for dam foundations and construction oversight and coordination for foundation grouting and embankment fill placement.
* Performed subsurface field investigations including soil borings, test pits, sample collection and analysis and data collection. Construction oversight for Soil-Concrete-Bentonite Cut off Wall construction.
* Field coordination and investigation for microtunnel design beneath South Platte River.
* Field investigation and report to determine scour and void potential beneath concrete structures at dam sites
* Performed drilling investigation to determine relative "soft" material below dam foundation, as part of continuing investigation for stability.
* Performed construction oversight for the construction of slurry walls. Observed excavation, identified depth of bedrock key material and performed quality control testing for slurry and backfill mixtures.
* Assisted with a Geologic Hazard Report for the proposed pipeline alignments. Necessary tasks included soil and rock borings, data collection and review, aerial photo analysis, field reconnaissance, geologic mapping, and geologic hazard identification and delineation.

* Conducted subsurface investigations, using Geoprobe, Air-Rotary, and Rock Coring methods to identify and define the extent of subsurface contamination. Produced boring and well construction logs for soil/rock borings and installed monitoring wells. Collected soil and groundwater samples for chemical analysis. Collected groundwater samples using low-flow sampling methods.
* Assisted in operation, maintenance and monitoring activities at a former manufactured-gas facility. Performed monthly groundwater elevation survey, collected groundwater characteristic data and monitored for non aqueous-phase-liquid (NAPL) in the site's passive treatment system. Assisted in maintenance of NAPL collection system in the intertidal zone of the ocean cove. Low flow sampling techniques were used to collect groundwater samples for chemical analysis.
* Responsible for the monitoring No. 6 Fuel Oil in fractured bedrock. Performed monthly product gauging and removal from recovery wells on site as part of IRA monitoring activities.
* Conducted site visits and visited municipal, federal and state offices to collect comprehensive information for preparation and writing of Phase I, Site Assessment Reports.
* Obtained samples to identify and determine the extent of contamination. Assisted in the preparation for a Risk-Based Disposal Plan for demolition and off-site disposal of buildings and their contents suspected of containing high concentrations of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) a in the preparation of a Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan and the specifications for demolition and disposal of building material.
