As Environmental Engineer was responsible for preparation of Initial Environmental Impact Assessment Report, the draft and final Environmental Assessment Report including Environmental Management Plan. The reports were prepared in conformation to the environmental Guidelines of Govt. of India and the State Govt. of Maharastra, World Bank and the ADB guidelines. Responsibilities included liasing with the NHAI and the Pollution Control Board.
* Detailed Project Report for Rehabilitation and Strengthing of existing 2 lanes Road and Widening to 4 lanes Divided Carriageway Configuration of Hapur bypass to Moradabad Bypass (Km 58.800 to km 148.430) Section of NH 24 in The state of Uttar Pradesh, NHAI, July 2004 onwards.
SPAN Consultants Pvt. Ltd. were selected by the NHAI to prepare a Detailed Project Report for the project. My responsibility was liasing with the NHAI and the State Pollution Control Board for obtaining of No Objection Certificate.

* Technical Advisory Consultancy Services for Quality Assurance, Contract Management, Independent Checking and Technical Audit of Rehabilitation and Maintenance Road Work of Mizoram State Roads Project Phase I, Mizoram PWD, Govt of Mizoram, World Bank Funded, March 2003 onwards.
The project deals with the maintenance of four-project corridors spread all over the state for a total length of 221Km. As Field Engineer (Environment) I am mainly responsible for monitoring of the implementation of the Environmental Management Plan by the Contractors. Responsibilities also includes liasing with the Project Implementation Wing of the State PWD on Environmental issues, monitoring installation of the safety measures for the workers involved in the maintenance project, creating environmental awareness among the workers and the contractors. I also have to prepare and provide training to the field staff of the contractors and the PWD on Safety, Health and Environmental issues.
* North East Urban Development Sector Profile Project, MoSW&UD, Govt of India, Asian Development Bank Funded, July 2003
The project is funded by the ADB and is to be implemented by the Ministry of Social Welfare and Urban Development with the basic objective to find out the status of urban and socio-economic development in the North Eastern States of India and proposing measures to rectify the phases of urban planning and development. The capital cities of the NE states were taken up as case studies and a household socio-economic survey conducted on the cities. As I was based in the state of Mizoram I was given the responsibility of the capital city of Aizawl and also had to liase with various government and non-government organizations to collect data. Also initiated community consultations and arranged meetings with key players for the members of the team.
* Independent Environmental review of Mizoram State Roads Project Phase II, Mizoram PWD, Govt of Mizoram, World Bank Funded, November 2002 to February 2003
The project dealt with the Independent Review of the EIA, EMP, ESMP and the SIA reports for the Up gradation and Maintenance Corridors for the Phase II of MSRP. I was mainly responsible for reviewing and improving the Environmental and Ecological Impact Assessment Report with special emphasis on the sections on biodiversity, the impact of invasive alien species on the native flora and fauna and bioengineering, and Environmental Management Plan. Responsibilities also included reviewing the Environmental & Social management plan and preparing base maps. As part of the Independent Environmental Review Team that visited the site I was responsible for conducting Biodiversity survey on both the terrestrial and riverine flora and fauna for duration of seven days, the findings of which were incorporated into the EIA report. Responsibilities during the site visit also included verifying ground realities vis-à-vis the selection of alternate dumping sites.
* Pilot Corridor Management Unit Project of NH-2, from Km 8.400 to Km 16.600, NHAI, September to October 2002
The NHAI had decided to promote Corridor Management Units in all the NH as a policy to Protect, Strengthen and Enhance the National Highway network. In keeping with their policy the NHAI had engaged the consortia of Louis Berger Inc. and LASA to undertake a pilot study of NH2 from Km 8.400 to Km 16.600. As Assistant Manager (Environment) the main responsibilities was in the preparation of the strip map and identify all the amenities present in the corridor. The job responsibility also included proposing developmental plans of the corridor from environmental viewpoint in order to provide safety to the users and also devise income generation schemes for the NHAI.
* Feasibility and Detailed Project Report for widening and strengthening and Rehabilitation of 2-lane to 4/6-lane of NH-58 from Meerut to Uttaranchal border, MoRTH, Govt. of India, July to August 2002
The project dealt with preparing EIA, EMP and the SIA reports for the MoRTH. As part of the DPR Team I was mainly responsible for preparing strip maps with all the environmental and social features. I was also responsible for preparing alternatives based on the environmental and socio-economic data collected from the site and forwarding them to the highway design team. I was also responsible for preparing wind roses and sections on biodiversity with respect to the Environmental Impact Assessment Report.
* Chhattisgarh Capital City Project (Design) Competition: New Capital City Plan, Chhattisgarh, Department of Planning and UD, Govt. of Chhattisgarh, April to June 2002
The main responsibility was to visit the site of the proposed new Capital city and identify the ecological entities present, their likely impact due to the new city and preparing baseline conditions of the site and developing a methodology for EIA. The job responsibility also included preparing alternative strategies for Solid waste Management and Waste Water Treatment, recycling of water and water harvesting in the new city, identifying the likely source of drinking water and their capability to ecologically sustain the new city. Responsibility also included site analysis and choosing the best possible site out of the available 150 sq. km. area and preparation of a no. of support maps. Also analysed various capital cities of the world and the country and also studying in the twin city context the development of the new city together with the existing city of Raipur. Also prepared existing baseline conditions in the existing city of Raipur on the physical and social infrastructure and suggesting methods for their up gradation.

The job also involved interviewing a wide range of people from government departmental heads to technocrats and to the local people on their perception of the new Capital city and ways to making it a sustainable city.

My main responsibility included reviewing and updating the various inadequacies and discrepancies found in the Regional Environmental & Social Assessment and Micro Watershed Developmental Plans. The job also involved proposing numerous environmental and social interventions in the MWDPs, their likely impacts, the various World Bank policies that they may trigger and their mitigations. I was also entrusted to do a detail research and update the proposed Integrated Pest Management Plan.

The main responsibility was to collect data on the status of ecological hotspots present all over the world, with emphasis on Indo Malayan region and Mizoram. The job also included analysing the various ecological management techniques undertaken to preserve ecological hotspots all over the world and to suggest management measures to preserve biodiversity in Mizoram. I also had to search for the status of endangered endemic flora and faunal species present in the project corridor and suggest management measures for their protection. I was also entrusted to prepare a Construction Period Road Safety Plan.
