I am a graduate of Royal Roads University and am very excited to be re entering the work force. I have volunteered with several environmental organizations on Vancouver Island. My time at Royal Roads University has honed my presentation skills, written skills as well as developed my computer skills. I am competent in the use of office software such as Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as put together and present Power Point presentations. I have experience in presenting information to a variety of audiences, ranging from grade school, to the public, to a panel of scientists.

I enjoy a challenge and thrive in situations where I get to learn on the fly. I have worked as crew manager in the past and enjoy working with people. I love working hard and seeing a job to completion while enjoying what I do.

I have had to work in many group settings in the past and have had to learn my own personal limitations as well as recognizing where others limitations are. This has been particularly important in dealing with a wide range of personalities, many whom are quite different in beliefs and work ethic than myself.

I believe that these qualities and skills that I have acquired provide a sound foundation and ability to work in any setting. Please consider me for this position.

Experience:

Columbia Forestry, Campbell River, BC, Canada
Duties were stream mapping, GPS work, Timber cruising and engineering layout. I spent most of my time out in the field. This gave me excellent opportunity to hone my compass and navigational skills as well as backwoods safety. Tree surveying was a major part of this job, which included disease, heights, diameters, and stubs. The mapping part of this job was using Trimble's newest handheld GPS system in conjunction with hand and compass mapping. I believe this job gave me excellent experience in working in the forestry sector.

Both of these were Volunteer experiences in which I was part of a stream monitoring and baseline data team. Duties included hand mapping the streams, collecting flow, pH, dissolved oxygen and temperature data. In conjunction with this our team designed and performed a community survey, which targeted the members of the Chamber of Commerce to determine support for local stewardship groups.

As a sawyer at Selkirk I learned to repair, operate and maintain saws. I was responsible for cutting and fabricating all the needed parts for the trusses. While constantly working under deadlines.
