MASTER THESIS:

¡* Study of Convective Activity over Indian Region Using Satellite and RADAR Data¡¨

Study has been conducted to explore the role of convective systems which are generated over the warm ocean around the Indian subcontinent in large-scale monsoon rainfall and relationship between observed SST and organized deep convection over the Indian Ocean region using ISCCP, NCEP/NCAR and C-band Radar data. Also trend in cloud top temperature and sea surface temperature have been analyzed from July 1983 to June 2005 over the Indian region.

Working with Wind Resource team since May 2007 with successful completion of wind resource assessment (energy estimation & loads calculation) of the proposed Wind Farm in India like Sadawagapur (Maharashtra) 205MW, Dhule (Maharashtra) 100MW, Coimbator (Tamilnadu) 75MW, Lathadi-Mandvi (Gujarat) 250MW and other various (around 3000MW) projects in India.

ƒæ Major Project's completed

Sadawagapur (Maharashtra) 205 MW, Client: Reliance & TATA Power

A completely new site which can be classified as a complex site in the western part of India. Project was proposed as 205 MW of 1.5MW (S82) and 1.25MW (S66) Suzlon turbines were finalized. Site consists of three metrological masts. Problem was selection of wind mast and ruggedness index in the site.

Solution provided as per Wind resource Dept to client:
1. Wind masts selection factors such as distance between mast and turbine locations, similarity of terrain morphology, and similarity of exposure to prevailing wind directions.
2. For turbine locations with slopes excess of 17 degrees in the prevailing wind directions, than at wind mast location, there is a tendency for the WAsP model to over predict the wind speed and consequently energy production and vise versa. For such turbine locations we have given RIX correction to reduce the uncertainty in prediction.

Jogimatti (Karnataka) 40MW, Client: In house

Site can be classified as a complex site in the southwest part of India. Project was proposed as 40 MW. We have available class-II and class-III Suzlon turbine models. Site consists of two metrological masts, Both masts have recorded three years of data. After doing extreme loads and fatigue loads calculation and considering turbine specifications we have finalized turbine layout which consist of 1.5MW (S82) and 1.25MW (S64) turbines. Finally we have released projected energy estimations and site suitability report.
