A self-motivated, methodical and driven Contaminated Land Officer proficient in GIS (Mapinfo), and the contaminated land data management and site prioritisation program 'Groundview.' Recent experience includes Phase 1 and 2 investigations, sampling and reporting. Previous experience has included the design, operation and maintenance of remediation systems. Working experience of legislation includes: The Environmental Permitting Regulations, Water Framework Directive, The Environment Act, The Environmental Protection Act (particularly Part IIA) and The Control of Pollution Act.

Contaminated Land Officer
Responsible for the council's day to day activities with regard to contaminated land, duties include the following:
* Production of guidance and policy notes (including the councils contaminated land strategy);
* Identification of potentially contaminated sites within the district (and prioritisation of the list of sites);
* Production of a GIS map showing the location and status of each of the potentially contaminated sites (through maintaining a database linked to the GIS map - Groundview);
* Production of comprehensive desk study reports (with the aim of applying for central government loans, to fund the investigation/remediation of potentially contaminated land);
* Project management of site investigations;
* Liaison with government bodies including: the Environment Agency, the Department for Food and Rural Affairs, the Health Protection Agency and the Coal Authority;
* Liaison with consultancies, remediation contractors and the general public (including environmental information searches and sample taking);
* Liaison with multiple internal departments (including planning, building control, property services, procurement, legal services and customer services);
* Appraisal of all contaminated land reports submitted to the council;
* Responding to planning consultation (often involving imposing conditions on planning applications);
* General office administration.

Project Scientist
Working on contaminated land projects throughout the UK. Projects ranged from large sites such as former gasworks and foundries to smaller sites such as petrol stations and vehicle workshops. Responsibilities included:
* Report writing, appraisal of consultants reports, interpreting lab results, assisting with the design, operation, maintenance and final decommissioning of remediation systems;
* Site work included: soil and groundwater sampling, borehole logging, management/supervision of contractors);
* General office administration (including liaison with suppliers, local authorities and consultants).
