PROFILE
I am currently working at a bulk fuel instalation in Iraq as a Operator/Supervisor on a 2 year contract.
I was employed at Fairoaks Airport in Chobham, Surrey as Fire/Ground Crew for a year from april 2004 to june 2005.

I have also worked on a temporary basis as member of the Fire and Ground Crew team at Blackbushe Airport since October 2003. When I have time available and the opportunity presents itself, I still work there on a casual basis.

I am currently undertaking both practical and theoretical training towards obtaining my HGV license in the United Kingdom and due to my keen interest in computers, I am also doing part-time study towards a MCSA diploma.

Prior to moving to the United Kingdom, I was employed for 25 years in the Fire and Rescue Services in Cape Town, South Africa. The most recent position I held there was that of LEADING FIREFIGHTER.and PARAMEDIC I had completed training in all aspects of Fire-fighting, theoretical and Practical, including ship and aircraft fires.and all types of medical emergencies I operate to the highest standards in all aspects of my work.

Overview: This position entails all aspects of the day to day maintenance and running of the airport, refuelling and physically moving aircraft, dealing with any emergencies arising at the airport including fire fighting, first aid and airport safety.

Overview: In my positions as Leading Fire-fighter, Control Centre Supervisor and Rescue Medic, I have obtained valuable theoretical and practical experience in all aspects of these jobs and have taken charge of all fire and medical appliances at emergency incidents including ship fires, building fires, vehicle fires, aviation fires, mountain rescues, motor vehicle rescues.

KEY ACTIVITIES

Paramedic (Ambulance Emergency Assistant):
Treat all medical emergencies, e.g. heart attacks, strokes, trauma, injuries etcetera. In charge of Rescue Vehicle and crew responding to all medical emergencies and motor vehicle accidents on a 24 hour shift system (1 day on and 2 days off approx. 56 hour week). I have over 100 hours flying time on helicopters as assistant to a medical doctor on flights to ships passing Cape Town, supplying equipment and goods, treating patients and transporting them to hospital when required. I also went on morning and evening traffic report flights on a helicopter. The crew included a "traffic policeman" to radio the report to the radio station, a "rescue medic" to be dropped off at the scene of a motor vehicle accident or any other incident that needed a quick response time in peak hour traffic and the pilot.

Leading Fire-Fighter
Be in charge of a Fire Station and crew that responds to all emergencies including all types of
Fires,motor vehicle accidents,medical emergencies etc. With Cape Town being a major port in
Africa I have had to deal with major fires,explosions,rescues and medical emergencies involving all types of ships in the harbour and out at sea.I have been air lifted with a fire crew to ships that have been on fire and spent days out at sea fighting these fires
Lecturer:
Providing lectures to Staff on CPR and First Aid and all aspects of fire-fighting and physical training.

Control Room Supervisor:
Call Centre for entire Western Province, taking calls and dispatching fire appliances and medical rescue vehicles for 28 fire stations. Supervising the crew of the control centre and communicating and working together with all other emergency services.

Breathing Apparatus Room:
Maintenance and repair to B.A. sets and compressors. Refilling of N.A.B.A. Cylinders and preparation of all paperwork and reports relating thereto.

Canteen Manager:
Purchasing and selling merchandise in the station canteen, and overseeing assistants as well as all monthly reports and stock checks.

Station Caterer:
Assisting the caterer in the purchasing and distribution of food to seven fire stations.

Assistance Store-Keeper:
Purchasing equipment and uniforms for distribution to all fire stations.

Fire Appliance Driver:
Drive, operate and maintain Motor Pumps and other service vehicles (left and right hand drive). Breathing Apparatus vehicle and Forward Control vehicle.

Special Appliance Driver:
Rescue Vehicle, Turn-Table Ladder, Hydraulic Platform

Overview: The job entailed making, doing and supplying special effects for the film, television and advertising industry (motion and stills).
