TEACHING FELLOW
US.ZA is a South African based non-profit organization that supports Princeton-in-Africa (www.princeton.edu/piaf) fellows as they teach on the Quantitative Literacy Project (www.ched.uct.ac.za/qlp) at the University of Cape Town. Two introductory math courses are taught concurrently to first-year undergraduates and corporate learners. The courses are designed to help alleviate the poor math education in previously non-white schools, which is a legacy of the apartheid system. Duties include delivery of the courses in a lecture/workshop format, individual tutoring, test setting and marking, and curriculum development.
HEAD FELLOW (1/2002-present)
In addition to the teaching duties described above, the HF helps to manage the 5-6 other fellows and liaise between UCT’s academic staff, US.ZA management, and Princeton-in-Africa management.
