Description:
The effluent coming from various units in the industry was treated in order to minimize the pollution load. The treatment process includes primary, secondary and tertiary stages. Collecting and analyzing the samples from various units within the effluent plant studied the working efficiency of the effluent treatment plant. The samples are then analyzed from various physical and chemical parameters. Such as COD, BOD, pH, Co lour, Oil and Grease, Fluoride, Iron, Silica, Sulphates, TDS, TSS, conductivity etc.

Description:
The Ground water system in Chennai is highly polluted due to various environmental factor such as dumping and disposal of municipal waste and industrial effluent into the rivers like Coovum and Adyar due to the porous nature of the soil, the pollutants from the river migrates into the ground water and it leads to the contamination of the ground water. Hence samples were collected in different location along the Adyar, Coovum rivers and Buckingham canal.
The samples were then analyzed for the presence of heavy metals like Copper, Chromium, and Cadmium. From the analytical results the pollution load in Chennai for the period of 2001 was known. From the rain fall data the water level contour are made by using surfer 6.
Then the study area was digitized by using Arc view, Both the digitized map and the water level contour were imported to the visual mudflow to simulate the pollution load for the forth coming years.
