Institutional Strengthening and Strategic Consultancy (1997 - Current)

* Consultant to Asian Development Bank (ADB) and World Bank (WB). Helped ADB formulate a project on awarding $200 million line of credit for Urban Municipal Infrastructure projects. Carried out assessment of institutional capacity to carry out EIA for three large institutional lenders.

* Led a World Bank international project consortium for a Capacity Building project for a large government client in the area of Natural Resource Management and Participatory Forest Management.

* Strategic Initiatives, business development, international partnerships and negotiations for multi and bilaterally funded projects in the area of environment, Infrastructure, and Natural Resource Management. Executed about 10 different projects for clients in government/municipal sector. Successfully developed a new group within the company.

EIA - Urban Infrastructure and Natural Resource Management (Regional EIA Framework) (1993 - 1997)

* Headed EIA Division of a leading Environment and Development institute and developed a comprehensive EIA Programme using Regional EIA approaches to Sustainable Development. Span of control included 6 Project Leaders and team size from 3-30 for a given project. Full financial controllership of cost budgets.

* Managed a multi-disciplinary team comprising of Geographers, Planners, Botanist, Economists and Computer Scientist-GIS for the EIA program

* Developed public participatory approaches to sustainable development. Led projects with innovative approaches to participation by stakeholders.

Urban Infrastructure Management (1990-1993)

* Associated with a Municipal Urban Infrastructure project at a large metropolitan town of 10 million people. The project addressed urban infrastructure issue of solid waste management and public sanitation. The project also sought to develop new long-term management approaches to urban infrastructure projects

* High level co-ordination with federal, state and municipal government also including interactions with public and private organization

* Co-ordination of development of display and handout material

Environmental Impact Assessment and Policy (1987 - 1990)

* Environmental Impact Assessment of Transportation projects at Virginia, Dept. of Transportation, as mandated under US federal and Virginia state laws

* Development of India Country Guidelines for Environmental Impact Assessment for Transportation (Roads/Airports etc.) and Communication Sectors at Ministry of Environment

* Helped institutionalise public consultative process for EIA in India. Helped develop various government environmental notifications under Environment Protection Act 1986

Public Health and Waste Management (1982 - 1987)

* Assisted in development of a new process called VIP for wastewater treatment combining secondary and tertiary treatments. Process subsequently patented and licensed. (At Hampton Roads Sanitation District, Norfolk, Virginia, USA)
