PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
August 2003 – Present Scopus Engineering Ltd, (Oil & Gas Engineering. Aberdeen)
Business Development - Was approached to represent Scopus on a Trade Mission to Mexico. Main purpose was to carry out a market research and get an insight into the Mexican oil and gas sector. I returned from the visit with a vast catalogue of new contacts and a potential new client base along with the interest from a construction firm on the possibility of a joint venture. Scopus were later asked to quote a job in excess of $1M. I was asked by Scopus to stay with a view to continuing off from where I left off prior to my Gap Year travels. This has involved offshore survey work along with keeping in contact with the existing Mexican contact base.

Feb 2003 – August 2003 Hammonds (City of London)
Health and Safety Advisor – Responsible for the execution of Ergonomic and Display Screen Equipment Risk Assessments, while ensuring all control measures were in place. Categorising risks and monitoring progress by creating progress charts. Developed electronic action tracking system and reported to the company's National Health and Safety Officer via video link. This was a project-based role, in which I gained first hand experience in Project Management as well as playing an integral part in Health and Safety Management.
Oct 2001 – Dec 2002 Gap Year Travels
March 2002 – August 2002 Department of Environmental Protection (Gap Year)
Waste Management Licensing Officer– Responsible for maintaining and updating Waste Management Tracking system along with issuing licenses for the different types of industrial waste. Liasing with environmental officers, waste carriers, waste management treatment plants and waste producers. Creating inspection reports and licenses for the production, removal and treatment of such wastes and general office administration and account control.

Feb 2000-Oct 2001 Scopus Engineering Ltd, (Latin America/UK)
Business Development / Trainee Surveyor - I began working in the Venezuelan Division as the contact point between head office and clients given my knowledge in Spanish. Scopus extended my responsibilities to include market research for the company with a view to expanding the existing client base. I was able to obtain more work in Venezuela and later in Peru. After spending 6 months in South America, I returned to the Aberdeen Head Office, working as an offshore dimensional control surveyor and dealing with clients and their specific surveying requirements. Tasks performed throughout my time with Scopus were, Piping and Structural Surveying, 2D&3D As-Built drawings with Autocad and Clash checking with Navisworks. In Oct 2001, I decided to take a Gap year to go traveling.

As part fulfillment of my Master, my Thesis was to investigate into how an environmental management system can influence organisational change within the Oil & Gas Industry. The thesis concentrated on the development and operation of documented systems to manage the environmental effects of Oil and Gas Industry using an ISO14001 and the EMAS approach. It provided me with a fundamental appreciation of how companies approach systems and their development, maintenance and auditing. The role demanded a great deal of research and analytical skill, in addition to first class competency in time management.

INTERESTS
As an undergraduate I played for the University football and rugby teams and was voted captain of the latter. Whilst on my Gap year travels, I played rugby for Sydney University and in Perth (WA) for Swanbourne RFC. I have an interest in languages (completely bi-lingual Spanish/English and advanced French as well as Portuguese). I photography and graphic design.
