Projects: Laboratory flotation test work for an expansion of the zinc flotation circuit, calibration of on-line particle size analysis equipment, management of a water treatment pilot plant study, residence time analyses of flotation columns/conventional flotation cells, a study of the fate of cyanide in the water treatment circuit as well as grinding circuit surveys and clarifier/thickener settling tests.

Master's Thesis Project: Conducted research into the characterization of selenium releases from phosphate mining overburden. Results of this research have been used by the State of Idaho's government-industry Selenium Task Force.

Accomplishments: Published a Master's Thesis entitled "Characterization and Control of Selenium Releases from Mining in the Idaho Phosphate Region" through the University of Idaho Press. Awarded a one-year research fellowship into the treatment of acid rock drainage from the Berkeley Pit, Montana.

Other Experience: Employed at a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency certified analytical laboratory, performing tasks such as sample preparation, analysis, data entry and adherence to Quality Assurance/Quality Control and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) procedures.

Assisted as a 'slusher' in the vat cyanidation plant - responsibilities included monitoring the filling, leaching and draining of cyanidation vats, inspection and adjustment of lime dosage to the process and frequent solid/liquid sampling.
Assisted as a technician in the fire assay laboratory - responsibilities included crushing, grinding and pulverizing of drill core, mixing of samples with flux, furnace work, fuming, parting of gold/silver beads and manufacture of bone-ash cupelles.
