Joined TARMS (earlier known as Tata Risk Management Services or TRMS) as Management Trainee and was promoted to AGM within a period of 5 years. During this period had assumed a lead role in making the firm a leading environmental consultant in India from almost nil environmental business in a period of 5 years. Was involved in all aspects of environmental consultancy business including new product development, marketing, proposal making, costing, negotiation and execution of assignments.
During this period led more than twenty Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Studies of various projects in sectors like thermal power plants, ports, harbours, jetties, terminals, chemical tankfarms, pipeline, chemicals, fertilisers, cement, Iron & Steel, road / expressway, airport, mining, hotel.
Led four Environmental Audit studies in large chemicals & fertiliser (Tata Chemicals) and metallurgical (Hindustan Zinc) industries.
Led two ISO 14001 assignments in petrochemicals (Bombay Dyeing, DMT Division) and printing & packaging (ITC, PPD) industries.
Led two due diligence studies for steel (Mahindra Ugine) and glass units.
Developed detailed environmental management guideline / manual for hotel industry.
Carried out environmental risk assessment study for a printing & packaging unit.
During this period, also had exposure in regional environmental studies in two projects viz. hazardous wastes inventorisation of NCR and industrial waste management in Greater Chennai metropolitan area.

In E&Y, responsibilities included business development, execution of assignments, co-ordinating with the other Western region office at Pune, being part of the National EMS practice think-tank and being the National resource person for EMS, Environmental Audit and Due Diligence practices.
During the short period of six months, led two ISO 14001 assignments in metallurgical (Bharat Forge) and plywood (Kitply) industries. Took part in a due diligence audit of a refractory unit. Also led a training assignment for a large cement industry.

2000-2002 Tata AIG Risk Management Services Ltd. Mumbai

After rejoining, led the environmental consultancy group of TARMS.
During this period led EIA studies for two thermal power plants, two Alumina refineries, one Aluminium smelter and two bauxite mines.
Was also involved in three ISO 14001 assignments for petrochemical unit (Finolex), engineering (Hindalco aluminium wheels and foils unit ) unit and a printing unit (Classic Stripes).
Was one of the lead faculties in World Bank funded EIA training course for Pollution Control Board officials organised in IIT Mumbai.
Carried out 8 risk surveys for sponge iron plant, gas based thermal power plant, two hydel power plants, two pesticide warehouses, paperboard manufacturing unit and light manufacturing unit.

Apart from environmental assignments like EIA follow-up and clearance related works, ISO 14001 consultancy / audit (for Trombay thermal power unit and four hydel power generation units of Tata Power), EMS Audit and Environmental Audit, have also worked in insurance consultancy related assignments.
