Summary of Responsibilities
Presently, working as a Senior Chemist & HSE Coordinator with ESB International (Ireland Power Utility company) at Rousch Power Plant, District Khanewal since Aug 97. Also held senior positions in Chemistry and Environmental monitoring Management while working previously with reputable organizations like wapda. Core responsibility of the Job is to lead and manage Environment Health and Safety and Chemical Department and look after and all activities of technical support required for the process control monitoring. Following is the brief description of duties and responsibilities:

1. Developed and implemented the Environment and Health Safety and chemical plant operation procedures and plans. Based upon these procedures looking after the following key areas.

2. Ensuring an effective continuous monitoring of plant gaseous emissions through CEMS (Continuous Emission Monitoring System) and Emissions / combustion analyzer.
3. Ensuring reliable operation of the NOx reduction system of the Gas Turbines NOx emission.
4. Plant liquid effluent waste water Treatment and analysis to ensure the achievement of allowed limits as defined by the regulatory bodies (i.e. Pakistan NEQs and World Bank Environmental Standards)
5. Preparing reports on the basis of the data generated by the above activities
6. Liaison with Pakistan EPA and Environmental Consultants and handling their queries.
7. Carrying out EIA (Environment Impact Assessment) and ESSA (Environmental Social Soundness Assessment) Studies.
8. Carrying out the Risk Assessments of the plant systems / Equipment and ensuring the timely and effective corrective actions for a reliable and safe operation.

Environmental Monitoring & Management

Environment Impact Assessment and Environmental & Social soundness Assessment pre Project studies.

Monitoring and recording of the significant environmental aspects of the plant and to confirm that the plant operates in compliance with World Bank, Government of Pakistan and local environmental laws and regulations.

The objective of monitoring system includes process optimization, auditing and compliance with regulatory requirements, public information, exposure and risk assessment, and identification of pollution sources and evaluation of long term effects.

Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS):
Monitoring of the gaseous emissions from the exhaust of Gas turbines through Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems, which is an on-line measurement system.

Continuously monitoring & reporting of the pollutant levels (CO, SO2, and NOx) in the turbine exhaust gas with oxygen concentrations as the reference variable. The reporting methodology meets all the stack emission requirements laid down by the WB and EPA.

Auxiliary Boilers & Thermal Oil Heaters Stack Emissions:
Monitoring and recording of the stack emissions of five auxiliary boilers and two thermal oil heaters measured by the portable combustion gas analyzer.

Liquid Effluents:
Monitoring and sampling analysis of the plant effluent on define intervals and in accordance with the stated procedure for Wastewater Sampling and Analysis Scheme.

Ambient Air:
Analysis of the ambient air at the frequency in accordance with the procedure for Gaseous Emissions Sampling and Analysis Scheme.

Occupational Air:
Monitoring and analysis of the occupational air with the frequency in accordance with the procedure of Gaseous Emissions Sampling and Analysis Scheme.
Health & Safety Experience
I have hold senior positions and having vast professional experience in HSE Management. The core responsibilities included the development of HSE Management System from scratch for all activities of the organizations, the development & implementation of basic structure, Policies (Safety & Environmental), Objectives, Plans, Process Procedures, effective control and safety procedures and an effective internal and external Auditing System. Monitoring Online analysis of the steam water circuits and cooling water system Steam water cycle sampling and analysis for 1 x 142 MW Siemens steam Turbines (02 HRSG's) by the following techniques.
a. Photomertric analysis for N2H4, NH3, Fe, PO4, O2, Cu etc.
b. Titrimetric analysis for Hardness, Alkalinity, acidity, Cl- etc.
c. Instrumental analysis, for pH, Conductivity, TDS, ETC.

Waste Water Treatment Plant Operation
Operation of Wastewater treatment plant for the treatment of liquid waste water generated during Gas Turbines washing and its liquid and solid waste disposal.

Water Treatment Plant Operation.
Operation of Pre treatment of Raw water in Clarifiers 2 x 375 T/H capacity, Demineralization plant 120 T/H, De-NOx water supply to Gas turbines 2 x 40 T/H.
Fuel Oil Treatment Plant Operation
Ensuring reliable operation of fuel Oil treatment plant by conducting Laboratory tests on the Fuel supplied and providing technical support for the operations of the plant through treatment process of Distillate Fuel Oil (LFO) and Heavy Fuel Oil (RFO) 120 m3/H. Technical & Backup support through approved quality procedures for fuel oil treatment plant operation.
