(II) Job Profile:

Reporting to Sr. Manager (Production), my basic profile is to create a bridge for information flow in both upper and down levels and facilitate smooth productivity by the best use of Manpower, Machines, Materials and Management skills. To identify the areas where needs improvement during regular production by implementing the new systems/techniques or modification in existing systems/techniques for the improvement in the Productivity as a Team Leader.

My Current Position

Where, Supervisors: Production and Quality, QMS: Quality Management System, IGI: Inward Goods
Inspection, FGI: Finished Goods Inspection, SMPS: SMPS based Power Plant, LSU: LED based Signaling Unit. Power Amplifier: One of the Sub-Assembly of Vibration System. This is an Electronic Product and used to give three-phase supply to Shaker.

(III) Job Responsibilities:

Job responsibilities are shown in the Flow chart ¡V1and the details are given below:

i. A Roll of PPC:

Production Planning and Control (PPC) for all Products becomes an important factor after receiving the internal work-orders from Sales & Marketing, because PPC does not exist as individual department in the company. Hence, PPC activities are done by Production-Incharge. My responsibilities as PPC are given below:

1) Production Planning based on Pre Dispatch Inspection (PDI) by customer.
2) Inventory Management with Purchase.
3) Monthly Production Planning and Control.
4) Procurement and Planning of new jigs/ fixtures/ facilities etc.
5) Generation of Monthly Production report.

ii. Production Control:

My responsibilities in Manufacturing of Products/ Sub-Assemblies are given below:

1) Monitoring of Production Status.
2) Monitoring of Maintenance of Machines.
3) Maintain discipline on the Shop floor.
4) Implementation of new methods/ techniques to improve Productivity.

iii. Quality Control:

My responsibilities in Quality of Product/ Sub-Assemblies are given below:

1) Product/ Process failure analysis.
2) Implementation of new methods/ techniques to improve Quality of Products.
3) Motivation of manpower through implementation of schemes like Quality Circle, Training (Indoor & Outdoor), Brain storming discussions, Departmental competitions.
4) Rejection Control at IGI, In-Process and FGI levels.

iv. Control Over Human attitude:

A respect of each other (Seniors & Juniors) keeps the smooth flow of production. Hence, a control over human attitude plays a vital role in manufacturing based companies.

v. Quality Report:

Monthly Quality report is the base of the improvement in any Product/ Process. The status of following processes is illustrated below:

6) Major aesthetic improvement in Field Coil sub-assembly of the Vibration Shaker System, which brought Saraswati Dynamics nearer to its main competitor company in the world market.
7) Team- Leader for the team made for getting Excise benefit to the company in the Uttaranchal State after increase in Productivity through Substantial-Expansion.
8) Certification of CE Marking by UL India for health and safety. CE certification is a mandatory requirement for business in the European countries and USA.

2.3.2 M/s FUJITSU INDIA TELECOM LTD., MOHALI (PUNJAB)

(I) Company Profile:

Fujitsu India Telecom Ltd. (FITEL) is a subsidiary of Japanese Multinational FUJITSU LIMITED, Japan. Fujitsu is a leading manufacturer of Telecommunication equipment, Computer, Semi-conductor devices and Electronic Equipments etc. in the world. FITEL manufactures the advanced large size Digital Electronic Switching System FETEX-150 at its state of the art manufacturing facility at Mohali.

(II) Job Profile:

Reporting to Manager (Production), my basic profile as Engineer was to supervise a Mass Production and create a bridge for information flow in both upper and down levels and facilitate smooth Productivity.

My Position

(III) Job Responsibilities:

i. Mass Production:

Managed and maintain coordination among the team of 80 operators and inspectors in Assembly & Testing of various Processes/ Sub-Assemblies used in FETEX-150 Digital Switching System. The status of following processes is illustrated below:

(i) PCB assembly:

a) SMD Technology:

Surface Mounting Devices (SMD) Technology is used for Mass Production with Quality where a Blow Hole on the Solder Joint may be affected with moisture and failure of complete system occurs. It covers following automated operations:

1) Chip Mounter: Siemens, Germany
2) Solder Paste Printer: Yokota, Japan
3) Reflow Soldering: SMIC, Japan

Experience on SMD Technology gives a lot of confidence in me for any automatic operations for mass production required in future.

b) Manual Mounting Line:

Manual Mounting Devices covers following operations:

4) Manual Mounting: Conveyor System
5) Flow Soldering: Yokota, Japan
6) Touch-up & Final Inspection: Manual and Magnifier operation

(ii) Bundle wire and Bus bar Assembly:

Bundle wire is manufactured by proper routing of wires on the drawing specially designed by putting nails on it.
Bundle wires are properly and neatly connected to a bar with soldering at one hand and other end is crimped and inserted into connector. This bus bar assembly is used to provide Power Supply 48V and 5V to the individual sub-parts of Digital Switching System.

(iii) System Cable and Mechanical Assembly:

The main function of the System Cable is to transfer signal from one Subscriber shelf to other one. Hence, it requires accuracy in point to point connections through crimping tool. These Cable are tested manually and after that on automated Computer Work-Station.

Assembly of Mechanical Parts of complete Digital Switching system such as Shelf Assembly, Door Assembly, Computer Work-Station, Back-Wire-Board (BWB) and Misc. Units (SCWS, MCWS etc.) is done after receipt Work-order from PPC.

Sample Inspection is carried out for Bus bar, System Cable and Mechanical assemblies.

ii. Quality & Reliability:

(i) Quality Management System (QMS):

1) Team Leader to MR for implementation team of ISO 9002:1994 certification in the company
2) Involved in the Complete documentation for all layers of ISO 9002:1994 QMS e.g. Quality Manual, Procedure, Plan, Work-Instruction and Formats etc.
3) Preparation and analysis of Quality Reports
4) Analysis of Process failure records
5) Analysis of Customer complaints
6) Coordination of Corrective & Preventive actions

(ii) Environment Management System (EMS):

Environmental aspect means an impact of one type of material on Product/ Process/ Activity during Normal/ Abnormal/ Emergency conditions. Hence, Initial Environmental Review (IER) plays an important role in ISO 14001:1996 Certification related to EMS, based on calculations. My experiences related to EMS are mentioned here:

1) Expertise in Initial Environmental Review (IER) for Significant Environmental Aspects
2) Interaction with certifying agency
3) Handling legal requirements related to EMS

(iii) IGI and FGI:

1) Monitoring and Control over incoming material
2) Monitoring of Inspection Lead Time
3) Issue of non-confirming report
4) Monitoring and Control on Stock Transfer Note (STN) and Material Return Note (MRN)
