Hello,
I'm a technically-knowledgeable writing and marketing professional with a long-time background in the semiconductor industry.
I'm based in metro Seattle, and I've been living part of the time in the Bay Area.
My up-to-date plaintext resume is included within this message, below.
Two more eye-appealing. html versions of my resume are downloadable from http://www.geocities.com/minsq/chuck.html and http://www.geocities.com/minsq/chuckwriting.html
A Microsoft Word version of my resume is also available upon request.
Since 1996, I've been working in metro Seattle, metro Portland, and Silicon Valley. As of this writing, I'm back at my long-term home in Federal
Way, WA, a Seattle suburb.
I'm immediately available, and I'll change my location as necessary.
I'm open to either contract or permanent work, anywhere on the Pacific Coast. I'll consider other locations on a case-by-case basis. I'm used to working mostly on-site, to commutes of up to fifty miles each way, and to temporary relocations.
My job assignments have usually been some mixture of writing, marketing, and technology. In my most recent contract job, for QuickSilver Technology in
San José where I once was an employee, I was preparing a datasheet for a single chip with eleven computers on it.
Some of my other recent work assignments have been: two months full-time contract patent-writing at Impinj, Inc., in Seattle; a patent-writing job for a small Palo Alto client-server software startup;
and short-term full-time contract writing jobs for two Silicon Valley firms that manufacture GHz-range automatic test equipment (ATE).
Although much of my background is in VLSI semi-
conductors and in computer hardware, I've also worked at an enterprise-security-software firm and at those two ATE suppliers.
I would be delighted to discuss my credentials and background with you at some mutually convenient time. To reach me, please try email first; my email address is cwh2@earthlink.net
Then try my cellphone 206/354-8701.
I have home landline phones in Federal Way, WA, at 253/874-2640 and 253/838-1279, both equipped with answering machines. 206/383-3622 is a backup phone number.
Thanks for your consideration,
Chuck Hastings cwh2@earthlink.net

software system. And, after hours, three novels.
A careful and sharp-eyed proofreader and editor.
Have used Adobe FrameMaker, Acrobat, and
PageMaker; also Visio, RoboHELP, several generations of Microsoft Word, and other word processors. Have run seven generations of
Windows; some exposure to UNIX. Always interested in developing new skills, and in learning to use new tools.
Have worked with and/or written about microprocessors, fixed logic, VLSI FPGAs,
PLDs, ASICs, FIFOs, other semiconductor memories, nonvolatile analog MOSFET
circuits, bipolar circuit-design methodology, automated layout-shrink methodology, and bus-interface circuits. Also large-scale computers and peripherals, enterprise software, GHz Automatic Test Equipment
(ATE), and electro-optic technology.
Seasoned in semiconductor, computer systems, telecommunications, and aerospace businesses. Have worked both as a permanent company employee and as a short-term contractor; most recently in Washington State and Oregon, and around Silicon Valley.
Proficient logic designer, computer/VLSI
architect, and microcoder. Study of C, Verilog,
VLSI design, EDA, test engineering, verification, video engineering, computer security, and semiconductor processing.
Have achieved major increases in product-
line market share. Have been effective at recruiting, managing, and developing professionals. Composed and taught a one-semester digital-logic EE graduate course at California State U at San José.
MBA in Marketing, Santa Clara U; MA
in Math, UCLA; and BA in Physics/Math,
Grinnell College. Certificate in VLSI
Design Engineering, EDA emphasis, UC
Santa Cruz. Many other EE graduate courses, U of Minnesota. Professional courses in EE and creative writing, UC
Santa Cruz Extension. Also, seminars and conferences. Language background in Spanish, German, and Japanese. Real-
estate license (inactive) in Washington State.
Two novels published; another one completed and being revised for publication.
