SELECTED EXPERIENCE

Design team leader for the design and construction of a perchlorate treatment system for the treatment of solid fuel propellant waste at Air Force Rocket Research Laboratories, Edwards Air Force Base. This system was installed in response to local regulatory concerns regarding handling and disposal of perchlorate.

Design team leader for a solar powered radar installation built to FAA specifications. Project involvement includes coordinating a multi-disciplinary engineering team to produce a design and construct a solar powered radar installation built to FAA specifications. Project development has been coordinated with the following agencies: Department of Defense, Federal Communications Administration, US Air Force and, the US Army Corps of Engineers. This radar facility is situated in a Southern California Desert area (Saline Valley) and has presented a variety of challenges due to the remoteness of the location.

Assistant project manager for site investigation regarding soil and groundwater due the presence of hydrocarbons at Terminal Island Federal Correction Facility, Terminal Island, California. The investigation included installation of groundwater monitoring wells and soil borings to determine the areal extent of the hydrocarbon plume Reporting for the investigation was presented to the Southern California Regional Water Quality Control Board and the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Reports included findings and recommendations for remedial action.

Preparation of quarterly groundwater monitoring reports for an EPA superfund site impacted by chlorinated solvents and pesticides. This project was extended to include a risk Investigation and remedial feasibility study based upon the monitoring reports to determine a new EPA record of decision for the site.

Preparation of underground storage tank closure reports for Department of Defense projects involving tank removal and site restoration.

Prepared a database and provided technical assistance for a fate and transport study regarding several organic constituents present at a pesticide manufacturing facility. The results of the study were used to evaluate the time of chemical migration to the groundwater; concentration of chemicals in dissolved, adsorbed, and gas phases as a function of time and depth; and the site cleanup level.

Quality Control Officer and superintendent for a waste water treatment "Package Plant" construction project at Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Training Base. The finished system utilizes a fixed film biological treatment system and capable of treating 0.18 MGD of domestic wastewater.

Assistant project manager for system upgrades at the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Training Base-Mainside Wastewater Treatment Facility. The upgrades were provided to ensure compliance with California Title 22 Standards for the tertiary treatment of domestic wastewater.

Onsite project manager for wastewater aeration system installation, Ft Irwin Army National Training Center, Ft Irwin, California. The project included retrofitting an existing oxidation ditch with a US Filter brush roller system to improve oxygen transfer in the system. Construction activities included demolition for portions of the existing structure, shoring and excavation, and placing concrete bridges across the ditch to support the brush roller system. The finished system provides an enhanced oxygen exchange system at substantial energy savings.
