Professional experience:

* Prepared an INBARIS bamboo database for INBAR, Beijing and also a project on documentation and selection of potential species of bamboo in handicraft industry for UNDP.
* Presently, one of the collaborators in the All India Coordinated Project on Taxonomy Capacity building on bamboos, supported by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India and a collaborator in the National Mission Bamboo Applications (NMBA) of TIFAC, Department of Science and Technology, GOI, New Delhi.
* Described several new bamboo taxa, new records, nomenclatural new combinations and gave amended taxonomic descriptions of bamboos. Apart from bamboos several new taxa, new records and nomenclatural changes have been published representing different plant groups such as, Balsaminae, Orchids, Pteridophytes and Lichens.
* Presently, one of the collaborators in the Bamboo Phylogeny Group supported by the National Science Foundation, USA, Iowa State University.

1980 - 1983:
Full-time field work on the ecology & taxonomy of Orchids of Western Ghats, Collection and maintenance of Orchids in the Orchid House.
1980 - 1988:
Surveys, preparation of project documents, formulation of research programmes pertaining to the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve of Kerala part of Western Ghats, India with special reference to the Epiphytic Flora.
1987-1995:
Studies on Taxonomy and ecology of Bamboos. Work sponsored by IDRC Canada and INBAR.
1996-2000:
Establishment of a pilot scale bamboo stand for edible shoot production in Kerala
1998-2001
Revisionary studies on four genera of Indian bamboos
Germ plasm collection and Growth studies of selected Bamboo species suitable for the Western Ghat region
