Overview:

I am basically a chemical Engineer having Post Graduate degree in Environmental Engineering with safety background with experience totaling 20 years. For the past 13 years I have principally been involved in the development and implementation of environmental legislations in industrial establishments to provide wastewater treatment plants and air pollution control measures and also to study the measures provided for safe handling of chemicals and hazardous waste and evaluating environmental assessment reports. I also practically involved in contaminated site assessment and bioremediation of contaminated site.

ACTIVITIES INVOLVED:

1. M/s.Grasim Industries Limited is an Indian based multi crore company which involved in the manufacture of Viscose Staple Fibre, Cement, Caustic Soda, Sulphuric Acid, Carbon di- Sulphide, Wood Pulp and Textiles etc. with investment within India and abroad. M/s. Grasim Industries Limited is a leading manufacturer of Viscose Staple Fibre.

I joined M/s. Grasim Industries Limited in November 1984, which manufactures Viscose Staple Fibre. My role is to operate the plant effectively to achieve quality based product,.waste minimization, Zinc recovery, Carbon di Sulphide recovery, to ensure safety while handling chemicals and operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plant to treat the wastewater so as to comply with the norms of Pollution Control Board.

As a middle Management cadre Process Engineer, I reported to Production Superintendent and Works Manger. I had given valuable suggestions to modify the operation and processes and taken record production and minimized the solid waste and wastewater generation, which was appreciated by top management.

2. I joined as Assistant Inspector of Factories in the Department of Inspectorate of Factories in June 1989. My main responsibilities are to implement safety and labour welfare, conducting Safety Audit, Mock Drills for Off-site and On-site Emergency Preparedness Plans in Industrial establishments. I reported to Inspector of Factories and Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories.

3. I joined Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board as Assistant Engineer in June 1991.My responsibilities include checking the design aspects of the wastewater treatment plants and Air Pollution Control equipments and giving suggestions for modification, monitoring the operation of waste water treatment plants and Air Pollution Control measures installed by industries for their compliance in satisfying the environmental standards, Hazardous substances and Hazardous wastes management, evaluating Environment Impact Assessment, Environmental Auditing, Risk Assessment Reports and On-Site & Off-Site Emergency Plan. Presently I am reporting to Additional Chief Environmental Engineer and Chief Engineer. I also practically involved in contaminated site assessment and bioremediation of contaminated site.
