Project: Doha South Sewage Treatment Works, Qatar.
(Ashghal Project).
Description

Doha south STW is a 110 MLD waste water treatment plant comprising of Sequential Batch Reactor
(SBR) and conventional activated sludge process. SCADA system is installed for monitoring and controlling of the PLC control systems in the plant. The entire SBR basins are aerated by a fine bubble membrane diffused air system on the floor of the SBR basins. The SBR cycle for each basin comprises of reaction phase, settling phase and decanting phase. The filtered effluent after gas chlorination is supplied for irrigation.

The sludge handling system consists of thickening centrifuges with aerobic digesters followed by dewatering centrifuges.

Responsibilities

 To ensure safe, efficient and smooth operation of the plant process parameters and take corrective action for remediation in order to restore deviations/abnormal conditions.
 To co-ordinate activities between operation and maintenance for implementing approved plans as appropriate in order to support the continual technical improvement of the plant.
 To ensure the effluent from the tertiary treatment meets all quality and regulatory parameters.

Project: MARAFIQ Waste Water Treatment Plant (Power and Water
Utility Co.)
Description

This treatment plant has an installed capacity of 72000 m³/day using Extended Aeration Activated Sludge Process and utilizes mechanical aeration.
The solids handling system consists of dissolved air floatation thickening of secondary sludge with anaerobic digesters of primary and secondary sludge followed by filter belt press dewatering. A central odor control system scrubs gases from inlet works and primary sludge thickeners.
An advanced treatment stage incorporating chemical treatment and re-carbonation removes TSS and phosphorus by chemical precipitation. The final effluent after filtration and gas chlorination confirms to class A reclaimed water standards and is used for irrigation and as make up water for cooling in industries.
Responsibilities
 Establishing and providing standard startup, shutdown operation to ensure efficient use of plant utility system, equipments and energy.
 Make necessary provision to ensure that all condition, practices, operations are in accord with safety and health standard.
 Engages in the permit to work and isolation certificate system in the plant for any non-operational work coupled with safety precaution.
 Conducting gas tests in confined spaces prior to issue of work permit for hazardous jobs in the plant.
 Raising incident reports during emergency situations and follow up with maintenance for corrective actions.
III. Organization: M/s. Southern Refineries Limited, Kerala, India.

Position: Process Engineer

Project: Vacuum Distillation Plant

Description

The 72 T.P.D refinery plant working on Fractional Vacuum Distillation system which is engaged in the reprocessing of degraded oils consists of four distillation columns operating in series under vacuum. Each distillation column consists of reboilers/heaters, coolers, condensers in addition to vacuum system and circulating pumps.

Responsibilities

 Responsible for the smooth running and maintenance of the refinery plant and championing quality assurance within the departments.
 Held the responsibility for maintaining boilers, generators, oil-fired heaters, compressors, multistage steam ejectors, vacuum pumps, condensers and pumps as per the maintenance schedule.
 Part of the production planning team, ensuring that the production targets are achieved.
 Operation and maintenance of steam ejectors, shell and tube type heat exchangers, heat exchanger re-tubing works etc.
 Involved in the complete logistics of raw materials and products.
