SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
EHS Associate Regulatory Affairs Manager/Senior EHS Manager Accountable for chemical management program, regulatory review of HAZMAT/product stewardship with OHSA, EPA FDA and DOT concerns. Special project work included LFG odor control project direction for gas generation estimates, odor control strategies and permitting support for highest H2S concentrations in LFG reported in US. Supervised teams of up to six people.
EHS Health and Safety Technical Services- Safety/DOT Auditing Team Lead and Senior EHS Manager As manager of General Safety compliance auditing, primary duties were the development and execution of a focused Health and Safety/Recordkeeping compliance auditing program and guiding improvements to the safety management tool the Health and Safety Exchange (H&SE). As a lead Environmental incident investigation, examined a 50 MGD wastewater treatment plant upset and made recommendation for incident prevention. Directly supervised three team members and audit teams of up to 8 persons.
EHS Audit/Assessment Team Lead Managed one senior safety specialist and 3 to 4 environmental compliance auditors. He led EHS Audits and led over 200 Environmental Compliance Audits. Team member of President s Award winning for multi-million saving for brown-field development project from remediation projects portfolio in 2004 as he had accountability for a number of remediation projects as well as auditing. Directly supervised up to five team members and supervise audit teams up to 8 persons.
Senior Environmental Manager Accountable for five large remediation projects and managed a number of inactive projects to closure. Auditing role included Environmental Auditing and Health and Safety Exchange assessments– EMS auditing, and team member of the President's Award winning 1996 Environmental Audit program, manager of Intranet assess for Environmental Audit Manual and advanced RCRA management expertise. Supervised technical teams up to 10 persons and project management teams up to 6 persons.
Hazardous Waste Minimization Program Manager/R&D Chemical Management Unit Team Lead With direct supervision of three Chemical Management technicians and scientists, the team produced results of Hazardous Waste reduction from over 100,000 to under 30,000 pounds from approximately 4000 chemical pick ups/year and removal/disposal obsolete chemicals in three years. A team member on President's Award winning Company-wide Chemical Management Program in early 1990's, and was the program manager for the Company's Hazardous waste minimization/management efforts. Directly supervised a 3 team member unit and regularly worked with facilities environmental managers or coordinators.
Hazardous Waste Engineer Responsible for technical direction of major mercury cleanup project as well as 20 other clean up projects. Work on an Activity Value Analysis project led to Corporate Superfund group to address SEC issues. Helped share Best management practices by authoring over 15 maintenance journal articles on hazardous material management. Led innovative hazardous waste training activities and was a trainer for hazardous waste management for more than 300 employees. Technical lead on internal RCRA felony investigation and clean up and was recognized a as team member of the President s Award recognized activities.
Principal Engineer Duties included business development and project management responsibilities for over 12 projects including: RI/FS cleanup studies for the Army and DOE, environmental auditing of the N Reactor and waste management projects for radioactive waste management facilities, BACT determination for low level radioactive wastewater discharges to ground, design of HAZMAT storage area in power plants. Other key projects included air pollution control design for HW Incinerator and conceptual landfill design for most toxic square mile in US. He supervised two junior engineers and had proposal/client contact/business development responsibilities.
Senior Project Engineer Performed all facets of engineering and project management in the areas of solid waste, hazardous waste and Navy housing facility management on over 70 projects Examples included: Work on more than a dozen landfill gas recovery and control projects. Team leader for emergency air monitoring of vinyl chloride, VOA monitoring and tedlar bag sampling of 12 evacuated homes for hazardous air pollutants and carbon filter monitoring in 100 additional homes adjacent to the largest West Coast municipal/hazardous waste landfill. Supervision of project teams of 2 to 6 engineers.
Prior positions included Environmental Research Engineer, Pulp Mill Technical Assistant, and Process Engineer (summer position). Key projects included published papers water reuse and solid waste research for paper industry, teaching of environmental engineering Western Michigan University, TAPPI Section award winning sludge composting project, shift foreman, process engineer and process chemist relief work.
