Devise and lead short- and long-range plans for all aspects of mining operations in rapidly growing company. Oversee and direct 8 departmental managers: Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Administration, Health & Safety, Construction, Coal Handling & Processing, and HR. Manage client, investor, and government relations. Initiate capital purchase requisitions. Authorize and justify expenditures. Prepare and administer budgets. Currently serving as interim Manager of Engineering overseeing 6 mine engineers, 2 blast engineers, and 8 geologists.
Achievements:
- Increased Life of Mine reserves by 7%, completely revamping the mine model; included new mine budget incorporating expenses for additional equipment and manpower for 43-101 reporting.
- Navigated complex red tape successfully to transition to a new Contract Explosive Provider; involved strategic planning for new explosive magazines, land permits, and government approvals while retaining existing Contract Explosive Provider during +1-year process.

Production Superintendent (1986-2001)
Managed daily mining operations, coordinating operations personnel with engineering on short- and long-term planning of overburden removal, budgeting, and equipment selection. Spearheaded safety and mine policy initiatives and compliance. Oversaw 5 general superintendents, 14 supervisors and 220 operations personnel. Responded to union grievances and arbitrations. Served as operations manager in his absence.

Achievments:
- Achieved safety record of 400 days and 1 million man hours with no lost time accidents.
- Increased productivity on the mines 4 large draglines by implementing sound operational techniques as well as utilizing productivity monitors and predictive maintenance systems.
