EMPLOYMENT
1999-2001 Superintendent Materials Management, Mossgas (Pty) Ltd.
In October 1999 I joined the Inventory Optimization Team at Mossgas (Pty) Ltd.
We had been assigned to draw up sales lists, of all surpluses, redundant and scrap materials at Mossgas, to distribute to prospective clients.
Included in my responsibilities, was the management of the storage facility for all abovementioned materials, picking, packaging, arrangement of transportation (if required) loading and running the full logistical function for the Inventory Optimization Program.
We did the preservation of materials as we are in a very harsh environment, close to the ocean, and pick up rust easily.
I was involved in the stock taking at Mossgas (Pty) Ltd.
I managed the training schedules for our department.
We ran special projects, like re-drumming of electrical cables, project scrap metals, and general work in the storage yard, where I had six people working, and had to adhere to safe working conditions.
I was also charged with the procurement of shelving for the Optimization Program, in order to facilitate all surplus, scrap and redundant materials.
1996-1999 Materials Man - R&B Falcon Drilling - Peregrine 111
During November 1996, I joined the Dynamic Positioning Deepwater Drillship, Peregrine 111, in Australia.
Managing the complete storage facility onboard, I was required to fulfill the following requirements: (1) Reviewing of all minimum/maximum stock levels of materials required for the productive running of the vessel. (2)Reviewing all and every order being placed for the running of the vessel, to determine if we were within the laid down budget (3) Managing the full Logistics function for the vessel, being arrangement for materials to arrive by either helicopter, or supply boat, and the dispatch thereof.
We worked normal offshore routine, being 12-hour shifts, on a 28-day rotation.
1990-1996 Materials Controller, Soekor / Mossgas
In 1990 I started my Offshore career, when I joined Soekor / Mossgas, on the FA Production Platform, 85 kilometers south of Mossel Bay, South Africa.
As this was the first project of this nature in South African waters, we were tasked with the ordering, receiving, preservation, storage and later issuing of all materials required for the drilling and production phases.
All the ordering for the productive running of this facility was also delegated to me.
The management of the storage facility was also part of my responsibilities.
1982-1990 Storekeeper, South African Air Force
I started my career in storekeeping and warehousing, in the South African Air Force, as a junior storekeeper.
In the time in the Air Force, I learnt all aspects of storekeeping, inventory control, warehousing and materials management, for various storage facilities, i.e. clothing, furniture, technical publications, weapons, ammunition, rations, aircraft spares, chemicals, photographic equipment, bedding, camping equipment and stationary.
