- Involves optimization of different ore bodies using Gemcom Whittle to obtain optimized ultimate open pit mine shell.
- Preparation of mining plans for an open pit mine operation which produces 30, 000,000 BCMs' annually of total material, 7,000,000 tonnes of copper ore and a workforce of 1,000 and mine equipment fleet worth approximately US$230m, comprising 10 x 190-tonnes 730E Komatsu dump trucks, 5 x 170-tonnes 630E Komatsu dump trucks, 6 x 190-tonnes 789B Caterpillar dump trucks, 6 x 240-tonnes 793C Caterpillar dump trucks, 8 x 120-tonnes 445 Haulpack dump trucks, 4 x 2300 P&H shovels 3 x 2100 P&H shovels and 4 Electric Rotary Garden Denver Drills.
- Preparing life of mine (LOM) open pit mine designs and scheduling using Datamine and Mine2-4D from the Gemcom Whittle optimized ultimate open pit mine shell.
- Preparations of dump designs.
- Monthly reconciliation of material mined and geological model depletion.
- Daily checks on the mine operations to make sure that mining plans are being followed.
- Working with mining consultants in optimizing designs and schedules.
