* Have successfully co-ordinated with consultants like Engineers India Limited (EIL), Tata Consulting Engineers (TCE), ICB, etc. and Contractors like (HHI, HEC, KTI, etc.) for installation, testing, commissioning and start up of new units which came under the above Projects. Have completed all these activities within the stipulated time and thus helped the Refinery in achieving EXCELLENT rating from the Petroleum Ministry, GOVERNMENT OF INDIA.
* Have additional experience in the Electrical Maintenance Departments of Visakh and Mumbai Refineries of HPCL. Have successfully planned and executed Periodic and Preventive Maintenance Checks (PMC) and attended the various Break Down of the Electrical Equipment.
* Have also got extensive shutdown (turnaround) experience in the oil & gas industry.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
- Can independently take up Design of Electrical Installations in Hazardous Area. Also familiar with the various IS Codes governing the same.
- Can easily read and understand all types of Electrical Drawings. Also am good in making electrical Control drawings, for complicated protection and interlock systems.

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL) is the second largest refining & marketing oil company in India with a turnover of Rs. 526.05 billion (US$ 11074 Million). It is having two refineries – one in Mumbai and the other in Vishakhapatnam, India. I have joined HPCL in 1991 as an Officer Trainee in the Projects Department and over the years have progressed to the present position of Dy. Manager – Maintenance (Electrical) in the Maintenance Department.
Nov 2001 - till date
Dy. Manager - Maintenance (Electrical),
M/s. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd., Vizag Refinery, India.
In charge of design, installation, punch-listing, safety auditing, commissioning and maintenance of all electrical equipment in DHDS Unit, Hydrogen Unit, Sulphur Recovery Unit and Salt Water Pump Houses along with all new electrical equipment being installed as part of the Augmentation Projects.
Responsibilities:
In my present capacity as Dy. Manager – Maintenance I report directly to Sr. Manager – Maintenance. I have to provide technical assistance to the engineers reporting to me. Seven Maintenance Engineers including four Shift Engineers and eleven technicians report to me.
Duties include supervising the work of Engineers, Technicians and Contractors, supervision of preparation of specifications and raising of Purchase Requisitions, technical review of the offers received, inspection of the material, etc. for turnaround (shutdown) jobs as well as daily maintenance. I am also responsible for scheduling of PM checks, supervision of routine maintenance jobs, placement and co-ordination for execution of Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC), etc.
All Maintenance jobs are processed, executed and paid using the Combined Maintenance and Materials Management Software - MAXIMO.
Specific Experience:
Specific experiences were gained in the installation, testing, punch-listing, commissioning, unit start ups, Turnaround (shutdown) Maintenance, Preventive / Periodic Maintenance Checks (PMC) and routine maintenance, The electrical equipment included 11kV and 3.3kV (Jyoti and Siemens VCBs) and 415V (L&T, GE, Siemens and ECS) switchgears, Voltamp Transformers (up to 20 MVA), 11kV Capacitor Banks, LT and HT Motors (up to 4.5MW, six-winding, ABB synchronous Motor), 440kW Electrical Heaters, VFDs of ABB and Siemens make and Micro-processor based (MICOM – ALSTOM) and MOTPRO Relays.
Achievements: Increase in MTBF of the electrical equipment to 24 months from the previous time period of 6 months. Successfully completed the turnaround maintenance of DHDS units.

Responsibilities:
Conducting all punch-listing, commissioning tests, etc. of the various equipments and taking them into service for the Unit Start-up. Duties included co-ordinating with the turn-key contractors, Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), Hyundai Engineering Company (HEC) and Kinetic Technology Inc. (KTI) and the consultant Engineers India Limited (EIL).
Specific Experience:
Specific experiences were gained in the commissioning and start-up of the DHDS Units including 22kV ABB (SF6 breakers), 6.6kV ABB (SF6 breakers) and LT (L&T and ECS) switchgears, Voltamp Transformers ( up to 20 MVA), LT and HT Motors ( up to 3MW Motor ), 440kW Electrical Heaters, Siemens VFDs and Micro-processor based ( ABB, P&B and GE-Multilin ) Relays.
Achievements: Played a crucial role in commissioning of the entire DHDS Project within the stipulated time and thus earning EXCELLENT rating in meeting the MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING TARGETS for the Company from the Petroleum Ministry, GOVERNMENT OF INDIA.
