Work Experience:
1. Chemical Engineer at PT. Caltex Pacific Indonesia (1993 - present)
a) Orientation to ChevronTexaco headquarters in Houston as part of career development assignment program (Sep - Oct 2003)
b) Lead x-functional team to seek integrated solution for reducing down time, production loss, well service cost due to scale problem whilst increase run life of pump (July 2003 - now). Methods are: downhole continuous injection system, annular injection system, encapsulated scale inhibitor, scale removal treatment, scale mapping. Potential saving US$5MM.
c) Lead team to develop performance based contract and execute tender process for chemical services (July 2002 - now). Contract will be awarded by mid November 2003 and commenced by January 2004 for four years period, valued at US$7.2MM, a reduction by 13% from existing annualized cost. Improvement from previous contract are: (1) integrated with chemical dosing pump inventory management, maintenance, repair, replacement as well as scale and corrosion monitoring equipment and program (2) more teams serviced (3) covered more types of chemicals: 13 and (4) shorter process and tender cycle time.
d) Lead team to conduct downhole scale squeeze treatment (DSST) trial at 15 wells (2002 - 2003) as part of tender process for 40 wells identified under 2 years contract.
e) Reduce corrosion rate at gas transmission lines operated by other team (HCT) from 64 to < 3 mpy using proper chemical treatment, purchase and install online corrosion monitoring system, improved pigging operations. Provide standard operating procedures for hydrostatic test for new lines (2002 - 2003).
f) Lead team to develop centralized drilling mud waste treatment facilities contract and execute tender process (2001 - 2002) after a successful pilot project in 2000. Number of CMTF reduced from 5 to 3, environmental incompliance problem and complains from surrounding community eliminated and secure uninterrupted drilling and production operations. Contract value US$2.3MM for 2MM barrels drilling mud for 2 years period (2003 - 2004).
g) Lead team to develop blanket purchase order for soil road maintenance chemical for 2 years, available for 360 km road to be maintained using internal resources (manpower and heavy equipment).
h) Involve in cross-functional team to develop performance based service contract for soil road maintenance using chemicals (2001). Contract had been awarded in early 2002 for 3 years period for maintaining 204 km secondary and access road, valued US$4.5MM.
i) Involve in corporate team study for chemical procurement strategy and inventory management system (2000). Team succeeded to reduce monthly corporate chemical inventory from US$8.6MM to US$6MM in July, endorsed performance based contract and vendor stocking program; standardize coding system and procurement process.
j) Solve high pour point crude problem by introducing biodegradable surfactant treatment (2000). Reduce production loss by 2000 BOPD.
k) Be instructor of Caltex Transformational Leadership training and oilfield chemical training (1999 - now). Also give leadership training for students (part of diversity program).
l) Lead team to seek cost effective solution and succeed in eliminating crude oil usage for road maintenance material (1999). Since early 2000, crude oil has no longer used due to environmental reason, replaced with soil stabilizer and asphalt emulsion.
m) Study wetland treatment, biological and microbiological treatment for produced water and drilling mud waste processing (1998 - 1999). Collaborated with ChevronTexaco and local university experts.
n) Conduct survey to assess the effectiveness of leadership development program in shifting paradigm from transactional leadership to transformational leadership (1998).
o) Lead team to develop performance based contract for chemical services and execute tender process (1997 - 1999). Contract awarded in 1999 for 3 years period and has been extended for 16 months, with total value US$4.3MM for 9 types of chemicals. This approach reduced chemical cost by 30%, reduce number of suppliers from 8 to 1, create zero chemical inventory, offload chemical delivery, refill and monitoring as well as injection facilities maintenance to contractor. Deferred payment by 30 days. Reallocate resources to other teams/activities. More focus to core business.
p) Conduct quality certification for 2 field management teams and 2 asset management teams using Malcolm Baldrige National Quality criteria along with Bekasap leadership team (1996 - 1997). Deploy facilitative leadership training. Develop skill gap & training needs analysis form (later it was adopted corporate wide).
q) Involve in design and construction phases of various waterflood projects: Pungut 50,000 BWPD (2002 - now), Balam South 300,000 BWPD (2000 - 2002), Bangko 450,000 BWPD (1999 - 2001), and Bekasap 250,000 BWPD (1995 - 1997). Provide chemical treatment and water quality monitoring in day-to-day operation.
r) Possess greater accountability and responsibility after corporate reorganization from functional teams to strategic business units since 1995. Previously, chemical engineering team consisted of a senior / leader, 2 engineers and 2 technical assistants. After reorganization, only 2 engineers left until 1998. Only 1 engineer left in 1999 - 2001. Additional new engineer hired since 2002.
s) Use up slow moving chemicals purchased within 1973 - 1990 with value US$350,000 rather than simply dispose these expired chemicals (1994 - 1995). Receive management recognition and achievement award in 1996.
t) Reduce production loss, repair and replacement cost due to scale problem by changing phosphate type with phosphonate type scale inhibitor that is more suitable for high temperature system (1994).
u) Conduct extensive lab and field trial test as part of chemical treatment optimization and/or chemical selection and purchasing of oil, gas, and water treating chemicals for production operation (1993 - 1998).
