First two years cover the whole spectrum of geology, including: Sedimentary & surface processes, Stratigraphy, Palaeontology, Mineralogy,petrology,
Geophysics, Geochemistry, Structural geology and map interpretation.
The final two years focus on petroleum geoscience and cover the areas of: Development geology, Applied sedimentology & Reservoir modelling, Reservoir engineering, Petroleum structures, Formation evaluation, Petroleum economics, Basin analysis, Petroleum geochemistry & Basin modelling, Seismic techniques and Subsurface analysis.
Over hundred-twenty days field experience, including a six-week mapping project in Skye, Scotland, as well as hydrocarbon-orientated trips to Wessex basin & Cleveland Basin. The course involved numerous individual and group projects & presentations. My final-year project, I worked on the tectono-stratigraphic evolution, burial history & hydrocarbon prospectivity of the Cleveland Basin, Yorkshire. I also took part in a major group project of exploration, appraisal & development evaluation of the Wytch Farm Field area, with an integrated team of geologists and geophysicists.
