ZADCO is one of the major oil operating companies in the UAE, mandated to develop and operate the Upper Zakum Field, 140km offshore Abu Dhabi along with operating 3 other offshore fields, and Zirku and Arzanah Islands which serve as processing and loading terminal bases. (Daily production operations >500,000 bbl/day).
Responsible for the entire environmental section and corporate environmental program, I report directly to the Health, Safety and Environment Department Manager. The principal job function is the implementation and development of the environmental management system based around ISO 14001. This includes setting environmental policies, developing audit and review systems, establishing baseline positions, standards and procedures, performance measurement and annual reporting as well as training and promoting general environmental awareness. Other responsibilities include subject matter expert, provision of environmental advice/guidance to site HSE engineers and emergency management team, impact/risk assessments and reviews for all new projects and process modifications as well as running specialist environmental projects.

Responsible to the General Manager, taking a leading role in promoting and establishing the latest environmental technologies from international associates. Laing Technology Group
Title: Environmental Scientist

LTG provides combined geotechnical and environmental consultancy services predominantly for internal Laing Group clients but also for external property groups, consulting engineers, banks, local governments and regulatory bodies.
Responsible to the Principal Geo-environmental Scientist and the Director of LTG my duties included pre-acquisition Phase I and II site investigations of a variety of industrial, rural and known contaminated land locations. Phase I investigations involved desk studies, map searches, site reconnaissance, interviewing, assessing risk and areas of potential concern, preparation of sampling and analysis plans, geological and hydrogeological investigations. Phase II investigations involved trial pitting, geological logging, various drilling technologies, and protocols to minimise cross contamination, representative sampling and chain of custody.
Other duties included technical report writing, reviews of occupational exposure limitations, report reviews and assessment against national and international standards, environmental impact and risk assessment and Phase III recommendations and design. Importance was placed on project management skills and progressing initial potential client enquiries through to formulating a technical proposal, which was acceptable and commercially viable.

As a site engineer responsible for overseeing project construction, valuable hands on experience was gained in all areas of the company's activities and site management.
