PROFILE: Control and Instrumentation systems automation engineer. Engaged in detailed design, installation, erection and commissioning of DCS (Distributed Control Systems) and MIS (Management Information Systems) for Power Plants. Have an overall experience of 2.5 years.

OBJECTIVE: To pursue a career as C&I Systems/DCS Engineer in a reputed company/consultancy where I can apply the technical knowledge I have gained through my experience and education, and also to gain insight into the latest in methodologies through strong teamwork.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Experience Obtained:
* Involved in materials estimation and preparing specifications for bought-out items and other products to be ordered.
* Commissioned sites for 110MW Unit operation and 2x15MW Unit operation.
* Setup, Engineered, Erected and Commissioned DCS Systems.
* Possess a more structured knowledge of a Coal-based Power Plant operation.

Current Project: Renovation & Modernization (R&M) of relay-based Steam Generation Plant - NFL Bathinda/Nangal/Panipat (3 x 3 Boilers handling approx 3 x 1,500 I/Os)

Scope of Work: Supply of DCS for Boiler automation and its interface with various field devices and instruments through multiplexers. Supply of UPS, HART Management System (HMS) and Sequence of Events (SOE) recorder.

Role: Team Leader, Engineering
DCS Provided: Symphony Harmony (Elsag Bailey product)
Engineering Tool: Composer for Harmony v4.3
HMI: Power Generation Portal v3.1 (On Windows platform: XP)

Responsibilities and Work Done:
* Design of DCS panel architecture and node-wise GA preparation.
* Estimation of materials and preparation of specifications and requirements of various peripherals and other bought items like 24V DC charger, battery, UPS, etc that is required for a complete DCS setup.
* Converting Relay logic to AND, OR and other System-structured Gate-based logics for operation through DCS.

On-Going Project: R&M of 2x110MW Coal-based Power Plant, GNDTP, PSEB Bathinda, handling a total of 2x5,000 I/Os

Scope of Work: Supply of DCS for complete plant automation, its interface with existing Electrical/ Generator Panels. Supply of Furnace Supervisory and Safety Systems (FSSS) and Turbovisory System. Supply of MIS with web server functionality. Supply of UPS, field instruments and transmitters, Control Valves, Annunciation Systems, Backup Panels and complete field wiring.

Role: Engineer-In-Charge
DCS Provided: Symphony Melody (Hartmann & Braun product)
Engineering Tool: Composer for Melody v2.11
HMI: Maestro-UX v2.6C1 (On UNIX platform: HP-UX 10.20)

Responsibilities and Work Done:
* Prepared MIS packages/features as per customer requirements and concluded its interfacing methods with DCS.
* Erected and Commissioned the DCS System for 110 MW plant operation (5,000 I/Os).
* Established MODBUS communication with CCI Sulzer's HP/LP Bypass System (AV6+ controller)
* Design of Logics (CLCS/OLCS/FSSS) on Composer for Melody v 2.11 and loop tuning of critical CLCS – Drum Level (Low Load/Main CV and BFP Scoop)/SH-RH, etc.
* Design and configuration of graphics for operator stations using Maestro UX 2.6C1
* HMI (Trend/Archiving/Logs) Installation and Configuration.
* Successfully setup Recorders, Display Indicators, Auto-Manual Stations, and Annunciation Systems for Backup Panel operation.

Completed Project: Upgradation of N-90 DCS for NFL Bathinda/Panipat – (2x15MW Coal-based Power Plant), handling 2 x 1,200 I/Os

Scope of Work: Supply of DCS for Turbine and Balance of Plant (BoP) automation. Turbine Load and Speed Control.

* HMI (Trend and Historian) Configuration and Tag Database maintenance
* DCS and Operator Station Commissioning on site.

Role: Inducted as Project Trainee for pursuing M.tech thesis.

Title: Parameter Estimation of Aerodynamical Systems using Feedforward Neural Networks and Performance Evaluation.

Design and training Feedforward Neural Networks for estimating parameters of aerodynamical systems and its optimization using Genetic Algorithms. Performance evaluation of a Feedforward Neural Network using a statistical approach (evaluating covariance matrix error).
