Objectives

To conduct project management in structural engineering analysis and design to formulate value engineering proposed solutions for civil and offshore projects, by utilising my expertise in advanced structural systems, computer aided structural developed procedures and the use of advanced non-linear materials. This approach will contribute to innovative engineering solutions that enhance low cost and faster construction time that will promote any engineering consultancy service.

Professional Profile

Over 20 years of experience in planning, management and supervision of civil and offshore engineering projects. Combined with management of various industrial and commercial enterprises. Complemented with the use of computers and programmed procedures in engineering and commercial projects to establish solutions and methods adopting international codes and standards. Expert in structural engineering systems, computer-aided structural analysis and design procedures, use of GRP and other advanced non-traditional materials.

Qualifications

* Developed on site, in less than a week, a structural analysis/ design package to solve beams on elastic foundations that was utilised to solve a large complicated raft foundation for the Hyatt Regency Conference Centre in Kuwait. Savings in the construction cost of the raft foundation alone was more than 750,000 USD. Then the complete structural design contract was awarded to us in April 1984, to meet the dead line of a GCC counsel Meeting on November that same year. This fast track project that involved the design of flat and ribbed concrete slabs, composite girders, R.C. frames and a space steel truss (50x70 meters) was accomplished on time.

* Developed a special computer software package for BP to analyse and design tubular steel rigs and platforms incorporating the API code. The package generated also wave loads according to Airy's linear and Stoke's non-linear fifth-order wave theories using Morison's equations, wind loads and current loads in addition to static and live loads.

* Applying value engineering approach to redesign a residential (30 million USD), and a leisure resort projects (25 million USD) both in Saudi Arabia. Our client SABCO (Contracting Company) was able to achieve more the 15% profit, based on a zero profit according to the old tender drawings and documents.

* Conducted the analysis and design of floating islands comprises of welded tubular steel space frame and GRP multi-hull boats for both Mediterranean and Red seas. The construction costs of these islands are 16.0 million and 10 million USD respectively

* Investigating the rehabilitation of a Baabda Hospital in Lebanon, Sheraton Hotel and the cause of major failure of an 18-meter radius palace dome structure in Kuwait. All these forensic and restoration investigations that are related to strength evaluation of existing structures were conducted using concrete cylinder cores and extensive structural analysis to correlate actual stress results with analytical procedures and patterns of failures.

* Setting up a lightweight insulated blocks factory (3.5 million USD) in Dubai, UAE Representing the shareholders in the appointment of the Consultant Engineer and choosing the appropriate Contractor for the job. I identified and qualified company's policies and secured quality control and testing procedure according to local and international standards. Approaching owners, consultants and contractors, I generated 2.2 million USD in the first six months of production (Reviewed in Gulf Construction April 2003/ Dubai Review).

* The analysis and design of a 1500 mm diameter Butterfly Valve from GRP material. The analysis was verified against stain gauge and deflection tests. This was the first GRP valve done worldwide in 1982 for the Generating English Electricity Board
