* Supervision, control and handling of emergencies of by product plant independently in shifts. Plant processes the foul coke oven and coal tar enabling them to industrial use. Production of ammonium sulphate and coal tar pitch are the main features of this plant.

* May 1977 to march 1980.
* Assistant Executive Engineer/Site Engineer.
* Maintaining technical documents and record of civil construction. Work installation, testing commissioning and documentation of process pipeline (over head) of coke oven and by product plant along with soviet experts.

* April 1976 to April 1977.
* One year training in the Soviet Union at Cherepovets Steel Plant in the capacity of shift in charge (Recovery Department).
(By Product Plant).

* Department related to Major Working, Experiences Coke Oven and By Product Department.

* First production unit of this mill coke oven and by product department (COBP) started production in April 1981. Main function of this unit is to produce met: coke (0.97 million ton /year designed capacity) being used as raw material in blast furnace.

* Coke oven and by product (COBP) department is one of its major units. This department process more than one million tons of coal blend (imported from Canada and Australia) to produce metallurgical coke for blast furnace and other commercial use. As a result of this process a number of by product like coke oven gas, ammonium sulphate, coal tar and coal tar pitch are produced. This process involves handling and storage of various types of coal, pure sulphuric acid phosphoric acid, ferrous sulphate and other materials. This process includes various operations like absorption, distillation, cooling, drying, centrifuge, decantation, etc.

* Coke oven and by product department having a man power of above 700 including more than 40 engineers and a yearly financial movement of 6-6.5 billion Pak. Rupees is based on heavy mechanical equipment / machinery and various types of heavy duty pumps.

BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF THE SERVING ORGANIZATION:

* Pakistan Steel is an integrated iron and steel works with capacity of 1.1 MT of iron.
The project was initiated in 1973 in public sector. Pakistan Steel has its own power plant (tpp-tbs) with 110 mega watt capacity.
* Some of the finished products of Pakistan Steel showing yearly designed production are as under:
* Billets 260000 M Tones.
* Hot rolled 790000 M Tones.
* Cold rolled 200000 M Tones.
* Formed sec 120000 M Tones
* Pig iron 1230000 M Tones.
* Slab 825000 M Tones.
* Bloom 275000 M Tones.
* Pakistan Steel procures more than 8 Million Tones of various raw material like Coal, Iron ore and Manganese ore etc. the bulk supply is procured on long contrast of 05 years basis on fob terms, Pakistan Steel charters vessel through one year contrast of:
* Affrieghtments with ship-owners.
* Disponent owners for transportation of raw material from various part of world. The material is being supplied by international miners/producers/ canalizing agents.
