Career History:
 Over 20 years of experience in the field of construction, commissioning & operations of LPG Filling Plants & LPG Cryogenic Terminals. Has worked as Project-in-Charge for construction of LPG Bottling Plants & LPG Terminals & after project completion as Plant Manager of Filling Plant & Manager – Operations – LPG Terminal.
Profile of Present Job ( February 2001 to ):
 Working as Manager- Operations (Process) with IndianOil Petronas (a joint venture company of IndianOil, India & Petronas, Malaysia) at their 0.60 million TPA Refrigerated LPG Import/Export Terminal at Haldia - 721 602, India constructed at a cost of Rs.260 crores. State of the art LPG Terminal set up by Toyo Engineering Corporation, Japan in their capacity as EPC LSTK contractor. Report to the Chief Terminal Manager, Terminal for operations & CEO, Head Office for project activities.
 Heading the Process Department involving:
a) Unloading of cryogenic LPG/Butane from ship parcels anchored at jetty through marine unloading arms & cross country pipelines. Well conversant on operational requirements on ship as well as shore side b) Storage of LPG in Refrigerated Storage Tanks, double walled, double integrity type with refrigeration system c) Pumping LPG/Butane through pipeline with on line heating & blending system for manufacturing LPG for filling in Road Tankers
 Also heading current project expansion as Project-in-Charge for engineering, procurement & construction, installation & commissioning of 2 Nos. 600 MT Propane Mounded Bullets, pumps, compressors, hydrant system etc. complete with associated piping & integrating the same with existing terminal facilities.
Skills:
 In depth Project Management experience for construction, commissioning & operations of LPG Bottling Plants as well as Cryogenic LPG Terminals involving civil, mechanical, piping, electrical & instrumentation systems, P&ID, cause & affect diagrams, interlock logic diagrams etc.
 Well versed in construction, site supervision & quality controls for various civil structures such as construction of mound for Propane Mounded Bullets consisting of pile foundations, RCC retaining wall, sand filling & compaction with stone pitching etc. Job involved checking adequacy of scaffolding & shuttering systems considering adequacy of strength with full safety requirements.
 Construction, supervision, quality control & overall monitoring of various civil/structural works such as Equipment House, Propane Pump/Compressor House, foundations for rotary equipments such as pumps, compressors, RCC pipe sleepers/steel structure supports for various piping, pipe bridges, cross over platforms, walkways, RCC/Bitumen roads, Drains, flare column supports, cross country pipeline supports, culverts etc.
 Preparation of tender specifications with bill of materials with drawings etc. for in-house activities for floating tenders, tender bid evaluation, placement of orders, monitoring progress of works as per BAR chart/PERT for timely completion, certification of bills after satisfactory completion of work etc. all complete.

 Have been imparting training to fresh Chemical Engineering Undergraduates joining the company as trainees for handling process/utility operations involving field & control room operations
 Fully conversant with design requirements of design of LPG Plants/Terminal facilities including fire protection systems as per ASTM/BS/NFPA standards & requirements

Achievements:
* Was one of the core members involved in the commissioning of various process/utility facilities set up at the LPG Terminal by TEC, Japan. Process facilities include refrigerated storage tanks, Gas Compressor House, in tank pumps, Boil off/flash gas compressors, Heating Train/Blending facilities, Mounded Bullets, Tanker Filling Gantry, process pumps, Flare Stack, Central Control Room housing DCS/PLC systems of ABB, Sweden etc.
* Utility facilities that were commissioned include cooling water tower & pumps, diesel/LPG fired low pressure boilers, D.M. Plant, Nitrogen facilities, Air Compressor House, Utility Control Room, Sub Station, D.G. House etc.
* Presently heading Process department & with a throughput of 45,000 MT per month for ship discharge & road tanker filling operation with optimum manpower. Terminal is fully automated with 'Terminal Automation System' of ABB with field instruments such as batch controllers, mass flow meters, electronic weigh bridges with PID loops controls for carrying out various operations such as ship unloading & road tanker filling operations, tank pressure control etc.
* To ensure operations are carried out as per laid down 'SHE' policy, oversee safety operations consisting of fire hydrant network with hydrants/monitors, medium velocity sprinkler spray systems, foam spraying systems, gas/flame detection system with suitable interlocks, extinguishers, emergency shut down systems, work permit systems etc., carry out regular mock drills, usage of personal protective equipments, safety check lists, followed by regular safety meetings to improve safety awareness.
* Look after all statutory approvals & liaison with external agencies, renewals of licenses for smooth operation of terminal including documentation of various manuals related to safety such as Safety, Health & Environment Manual, Risk Analysis, Hazop Studies, Environmental Impact Assessment, Disaster Management Plan, On Site & Off Site Emergency Plans etc. prepared with the help of safety consultants
* In house training of personnel in process/utility operations
Previous Employment History:
1) Proprietor of Excel Automation Systems based at Kolkata, India
From: January 1995 to January 2001. (6 years)
* Formed own proprietary engineering concern for manufacture, supply, installation & commissioning of LPG Filling Plant equipments & systems to various public sector government oil companies such as IndianOil, Hindustan Petroleum etc. mainly in eastern India.
* Achieved a turnover of over Rs.10 million during my business career for supply of various filling plant equipments such as conveyor systems, On Line Evacuation Units with automatic sorting unit, check weighing scales, auto soap lubrication systems, valve screwing/unscrewing machines, cylinder Pressure testing unit, vapour extraction systems, test bath etc.
* Many of the equipments/systems are still running successfully at different LPG Filling Plant locations & over & above cost effective as compared to Kosan Cris / Siraga make LPG equipments
* This phase of my career was really challenging since the entire functions of the company right from design, engineering, procurement, manufacture, supply, installation & commissioning, finance, accounts etc. was solely being carried out under my supervision. I have excellent man management skills.
* Gave guest lectures on LPG Plant Safety & Operations to oil industry members on behalf of Loss Prevention Association
2) Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd.
From: November, 1983 to December, 1994 (11 years)
a) Project Engineer for construction of LPG Filling Plants: November 1983 to March 1988 (4 years)
Joined Hindustan Petroleum as an Engineer Trainee in the LPG Projects Department & thereafter became Project Coordinator. Job involved coordinating with various Project Consultants for finalizing tender specifications, construction drawings, data sheets, purchase/work orders enabling carrying construction activities at plant sites.
b) Sr. Project Engineer in Charge: Construction of LPG Filling Plant of 10,000 MTPA at Gujarat, India April 1988 to August 1989 (1 ½ years)
Achievements:
* Was in charge of all engineering activities such as civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, fire protection systems & instrumentation works leading a team of engineers
* Plant was successfully commissioned & operations commenced in a record span of 18 months
* Facilities included filling shed, filled cylinder storage shed, testing & repair shed, LPG Pump/Compressor House, Air Compressor House, D.G. House, Fire Water Reservoir, Fire Service Pumps, tanker loading/unloading gantry, LPG Bullets etc.
c) Plant Manger: Filling Plant From: September, 1989 to March 1991 (1 ½ years)
Achievements:
* Was solely responsible for running the Plant as a profitable centre involving LPG road tanker unloading operations & cylinder filling operations for catering to LPG filled cylinders for domestic use in the state of Gujarat, India.
* Was heading a team of 40 members including Engineers, workmen staff without any IR problems d) Dy. Manager (Operations): Kolkata Zonal Office From: April 1991 to December 1994 (4 years)
Achievements:
* To coordinate with all zonal LPG Filling Plants to achieve production targets assigned to each Plant
* To visit LPG Plants & conduct plant inspections & also assist them in upstream/downstream engineering for finalizing tenders for any expansion projects
* To conduct safety meets & identify training needs of plant personnel
* To monitor expenses incurred by plants to keep track of cost control & take necessary corrective action
Education & Training:
* Degree: Passed out Civil Engineering from J.N. T. University, India with 82.6% (First class with Distinction) in 1983
* Visited Kosan Crisplant, Denmark in June 1993 to undergo training in LPG Filling Plant equipments. The training culminated with a visit to Electronic LPG Filling Plant of Aga Gas, at Enkoping, Sweden
* Participated in Seminar on Hazards in Chemical Industries conducted by Jadavpur University in 2003 & presented a paper on our terminal activities
* Underwent training in operation of ABB DCS Advant control systems at Terminal in 2001
