January 2007 - Current

Joined Yibal asset team in the Planning & Development Division. During 2007, the responsibility was to deliver an alternative simulation model for the whole Yibal field, which is a complex carbonate reservoir with mature water-flood and having a spaghetti of long horizontal wells. The RF of the field is 52% till date and the challenge is to further increase it to about 60%. Worked in Task Force to deliver the Full-field simulation model (MoRes) and some mechanistic models to capture coning phenomena in Petrotel's Flowstream software (streamline visualization). Currently responsible for developing a new Integrated Production Model (IPM) for the Yibal field considering futuristic re-development options such as reduction of over-injection and rehabilitating the field by some regular 5-spot patterns. This option considers shutting-in of the old horizontal wells and developing regular patterns by vertical wells. The idea is to minimize coning and recover as much as attic oil possible. Competent with Petex suite of software e.g. MBAL, PROSPER and GAP which are being used for modeling and integrating the sub-surface and surface facilities to identify possible bottle-necks in the surface network. This work will lead to designing/procuring of new surface facilities required for rehabilitating the old Yibal Field.

Responsible for undertaking simulation studies for Pilots. Recommended shutting-off of high permeability streaks in one of the Pilot Areas on the basis of modeling. Responsible for carrying out 2005 Full Field forecast for Fahud Field extrapolated from Sector Modeling. Skilled in full field PetroVR Forecast generation by extrapolating Sector Forecast by means of Type Curves. Change over of contract from PDO Eastern Direct Hire (EDH) Group to Shell Group with effect from 1st November, 2005. Completed Fahud Natih-D reservoir studies for concept selection between GOGD and Water-flood by end of the year 2006. Actively associated with Shell geoscientists and engineers of Well & Reservoir Management Group for generating well locations for the 2004 drilling campaign. Participated in Water-flood VAR2 session of the field in March 2004 and VAR3 session in December 2004. Contributed to full field modeling and writing the Field Development Plan (FDP).
