Objective
As a recent masters graduate of Camborne School of Mines (2008), I am now eager to begin work in the field of oil and gas. From my extensive fieldwork experience and work placement experience (with a mining company at a greenfield site in Kyrgyzstan) I feel a challenging role in the oil and gas sector is a very exciting opportunity for me to put into practice everything that I have learned over the past 4 years of study. My desired position would be one where I could further develop my abilities as a geologist through fieldwork with a view to learning new business and possibly financial skills and progressing within the company.

A level-(2002-2004) Geography, Biology, Chemistry ABC respectively. Liverpool College.

UG-(2004-07) BSc Resource and Applied Geology (2.i) University of Birmingham.

PG-(2007-08) MSc Mining Geology (with Merit), MCSM. University of Exeter Camborne School of Mines.

12 month Australian work visa (417 visa)

Experience Details
2008 (May-September) Lero Gold Corp. Summer placement on site in Kyrgyzstan. Work involved extensive core logging, sampling and later analysis with microscopy, SEM, XRD, XRF and Microprobe of a Cu(Au) porphyry.

2007 (July-September) Character Mailing, HCI. Data capture and warehouse. Work involved manual labour loading and unloading palettes and very long periods of inputting data to company software.

2007 (June-July) Bodycote Warrington Fire Temporary resistance to fire technician. Work was skilled and involved carrying out the neccesary lab tests under strict conditions to certify transport and construction materials for legal use in the UK.

2006 (April) University of Birmingham Alumni Department Minor clerical work. Involved filing of documents.

2004 (January-May) Help the Aged Charity Shop. Shop assistant. Work involved stock handling, shop floor organisation, till work and dealing with customers.

2003 (September) Barnardos Charity Shop. Shop assistant. Work involved stock handling, shop floor organisation, till work and dealing with customers.

Skills
Extensive core logging, sampling and lab analysis experience.

Extensive fieldwork experience.

Courses taken in specialised software packages including Datamine Studio 3, Arc GIS, Isatis as well as extensive experience of Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Word.

Experienced with conducting lab techniques; optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-Ray diffraction, X-Ray fluorescence and Electron Microprobe and the analysis of the data that they produce. Familiar with QEMscan.

I lead a fairly active lifestyle with my hobbies including martial arts (Wing Tjun Kung Fu and Judo), Fencing, Surfing, Hiking and physical exercise. Travel is a keen interest of mine and one which I wish to pursue through my career. At this early stage of my career I feel that I need a challenge and want to expand my knowledge both of geology and of the mining/oil and gas industry in general with a view to progressing within a company. My particular interests lie in oil and gas, ideally within a consultancy.
