A registered Professional Mining Engineer with twenty five years of progressive experience in surface, underground and overseas mining operations. My expertise is concentrated in improving mine operations utilizing industry best practices, optimizing mine-mill productivity and recoveries with improved drill & blast fragmentation practices and incorporating cutting edge technology into mine equipment development and autonomous operation. I am currently seeking a role in a Management or Consulting capacity.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
FREEPORT McMoRAN COPPER & GOLD, Mine Technology Group; Tucson, Arizona, U.S.A.
Program Manager; 2008 – Present
Currently manage a large department of engineers and technicians in all Drill & Blast fragmentation improvement projects for the company's global mining operations. These significant initiatives have greatly improved mine productivity and mill/leach recovery and have generated annual revenue improvements in the hundreds of millions. The second key D&B project within my department is the development and completion of the ARDVARC fully autonomous blasthole drill system, which was fully completed in 2008. Additional projects that I am principal Manager for include: ground engaging tool design improvements, shovel dipper design improvements, review of truck and shovel payload systems, site blast audits, electronic detonator use and review, signature blast hole vibration sensing and waste oil / ANFO plants. Other areas of responsibility include financial forecasting and managing the annual budget, presenting all aspects of progress to corporate staff, traveling to local and international mine sites to coordinate and manage installations, trials and training. Liaise with development partners, and author service, sale, lease, and copy write contracts. I schedule and monitor milestones for project completion, and I audit/update procedures for quality control and safety requirements. Manage all employee issues and career development.
PT FREEPORT INDONESIA, Grasberg Mine; Tembagapura, West Papua, Indonesia
General Superintendent, Drill & Blast Engineering; 2006 – 2008
Managed all aspects of the D&B Engineering department for a fleet of 14 blasthole and 9 geotechnical drills to provide 800,000 blasted tonnes per day. Trained and developed the Indonesian and Papuan Engineers to produce all master blast plans, blasthole charge/timing designs and post-blast fragmentation analysis. Trained the workforce in mine safety and D&B best practices. Created and presented weekly forecast and production plans to the President Direct and Vice Presidential team. Prepared Life of Mine forecasts for equipment needs and consumable requirements. Managed the annual budget of $70,000,000 (U.S.) and acted as Liaison between PT Freeport and D&B contactors (Sandvik, Orica), product suppliers and engineering consultants.

Administered all business and project responsibilities for eight of the largest operating mines in North and South America utilizing the SAP program. Maximized customer productivity by analyzing Dispatch® mine management system data and implementing mining best practices. In partnership with the Product Development group, developed new solutions to meet customer needs utilizing GPS systems and Spread Spectrum radio technology. Assisted with surface autonomous equipment and underground system development, marketing, training and industry release.

Performed production and blasting audits for surface and underground mining companies and contractors, (Normandy Mining Limited, Newmont Mining Corp., and Dynatec Corp.). Evaluation Engineer; 1995 - 1996
In the Special Projects department I reviewed, evaluated and modified surface mine plans and schedules to maximize equipment requirements, performance, productivity and ore flow utilizing Medsystem, AutoCAD and QPit software systems.
Ore Control Engineer; 1994 – 1995
In the Ore Control department, tons and ounces were maximized using Medsystem and AutoCAD software. Ore stockpiles and waste dumps were managed for mill feed blending requirements and long term environmental stability. Assisted with the new Meikle underground project ore control development plan.

Mining Engineer; 1992 - 1994
Developed and implemented the long range and short range mine plans using Medsystem planning software. Managed heap-leach pad design and construction projects with EPCM contractors, exploration drilling programs and special projects. Provided shift supervision when required.

Worked as an Underground Miner in a low-seam (< 1 meter) panel stope and track development headings. Transferred to the Engineering department to perform ventilation surveys, surveying and ground control research. Provided training to the local workforce.

Mining Engineering Technician; May – August 1990
While in the underground Engineering department; surveying, planning and daily engineering duties were completed. A 3D model of the mine was developed by re-surveying old workings and digitizing all current and historical mine plans.
GIANT YELLOWKNIFE MINES LTD., ERG Resources; Timmins, Ontario, Canada
Mining Engineering Technician; 1989
Assisted with the startup and commissioning of a 60,000 tpd tailings reclamation plant. As the frontline supervisor for a crew of 25, we provided the safe and economic transfer of tailings to the mill using hydraulic mining methods. Project engineering and management was continually required to optimize this operation and complete the project by EPCM contractors (Kilborn).

Mining Engineering Technician; 1986 - 1989
Began as Underground Miner in narrow vein shrink stope operation, promoted to Underground Surveyor and then Surface Surveyor responsible for open pit, exploration and civil project surveying. Assisted with the construction and commissioning of a 15,000 tpd tailings reclamation plant. Tailings dam construction, metallurgical testing, special projects and shift supervision were completed. Liaised with EPCM contractors (Kilborn) to complete the project on time and budget.
