Inspecting medium/large industrial boilers, cooling towers and reverse-osmosis systems, recommending correct product usage for each unit, product concentrations, metering equipment for descalants, corrosion inhibitors, quaternary ammonia products,as required,to prolong the operating lives of these units.Managing a
Canadian multi-disciplined chemical sales staff of 1200 clients, to respond to clients' needs and prepare tender documentation for large industrial/institutional accounts. Train and liase with international sales representatives, recommending products and procedures for inspection and operational improvement of medium-large boilers/cooling towers.
Developed user-friendly training manuals for major water treatment equipmentmanufacturers, serving the automotive, industrial, institutional clients.Developed and presented basic chemistry/water treatment seminars, including topics, such as Legionairre's disease, introducing operations,product/safety training seminars for new sale reps/managers.
Twelve years of experience as a Project powerplant engineer in the thermal coal-fired power generating division of a major Canadian utility company, where my responsibilities included:
improving efficiencies, reducing operating costs of various power plant operating eqiupment
(turbines, boilers, auxiliary units); Conducting monthly test of boilers (e.g. General Electric,
Mitsubishi and Associated Electrical Industries units) as well as condensers (e.g. Foster-Wheeler units.)
Performing heat-rate tests and associated power plant equipment tests, including forced draft, primary air fan testing, closed circulating water testing, flue-gas testing and analysis
(O.R.S.A.T) and precipitator tests. Oversaw construction site personnel on various power plant modifications.
Performing air quality surveys (e.g.thermal plume dispersion surveys), installing opacity monitors in flue-gas stacks, testing precipitators, commissioning an FGD unit on Unit 4 at Lambton T.G.S.
Conducting Ontario Hydro Corporation plant tours(for groups of up to 40 people) in the utility/
specialty chemical sectors, for engineering students, new employees and the general public.
Three years experience as the Water Treatment Engineer for a small chemical firm in Tampa,
Florida, where I developed and delivered sales presentations on topics such as water treatment, correct boiler-cooling tower reverse-osmosis operations, Legionnaire's disease, correct methods for installing chemical injection products and equipment. Our products were sold into various accounts primarily to the 5-star hotels & pop/beer plants. I performed corrosion strip testing, inspecting waste treatment ponds, at automotive manufacturing plants, performing biological oxygen demand (B.O.D) analysis; then recommending the correct flocculant treatment products, for each facility.

SENIOR WATER TREATMENT ENGINEER
With a Dominican Republic sponsor, I inspected the numerous institutional facilities in the
Caribbean islands(hotels, pop & beer plants, secondary industries) utilizing water treatment equipment, chemical products for cleaning and safe operation, maintenance of production boilers, cooling towers and reverse-osmosis systems. As a follow-up to plant inspections, I prepared tender documentation for chemical injection equipment and polymeric feed systems for each major institutional/industrial accounts.
My workload was almost identical to my position with Dubois Chemicals of Canada Ltd. as a
Water Treatment Manager, with the exception that there were few school and automotive maufacturers located on any island.Diversey USA had opted out from supplying chemicals to the industrial and institutional accounts in the Caribbean islands. Therefore,I inspected the water treatment chemicals & equipment used in a significant amount of large corporate accounts here.
I visited most of the major hotel chains operating in these islands(Sheraton hotels,Ramada,
Holiday Inns, Delta, Best Western, etc.) to discuss with the hotel management staff my recommendations for improved polymeric chemicals andhandling equipment used at each location.
The hotel industry(institutional accounts) utilizes a large amount of chemical products for warewashing(cutlery),laundry cleaning, heating and ventilating(HVAC) etc.New chemical products and equipment were recommended at each location, based on cost & availability. Descalants, biocides, fungacides, flocculants, etc. were recommended for most major equipment at each location.
Secondary institutional accounts(such as Bacardi Rum plant,Pepsi & Faygo pop plants,Red Stripe and other breweries) as well as local schools on each island were inspected, new operation &
maintenance procedures recommended, in addition to new replacement chemical products, chemical injection & handling equipment ordered. Tender documentation and additional liason with each client, completed the follow-up at each facility.
I was also involved in the inspection of numerous power generation facilities at each island location, with the operational/maintenance recommendations provided,as I saw fit. Plant improvements, based on my previous employment as an efficiency engineer with Ontario Hydro in Canada, was welcomed openly by the Caribbean clients.
Also,I designed and made equipment modifications for the installation and commissioning of a new reverse-osmosis system at the 400,000 BPD refinery in Sugar Ray,Texas. This new RO water treatment system was to replace the existing zeolite-softening system, installed during the original construction of this large refinery. My internship with Shell Oakville refinery, assisted me immensely with my familiarity with operation/maintenance activities associated with an operating oil refinery.
