SAFETY & MECHANICAL ENGINEER March 2007 to till date
Working as a Safety and Mechanical Engineer for Velosi Ghana Limited, a MNC organization in Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Inspection, in the manufacture of two diesel storage tanks of capacity 10,000 cubic meters manufactured by Zakhem International Construction Ltd for the client Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Ltd, (BOST) Ghana.
Presently handling the construction of Petroleum and Diesel Storage tanks ranging from 20,000 cubic meters to 5,000 cubic meters (Total of 90,000 cubic meters) and cross-country pipeline of 72 meters length of diameter 12" for the same client BOST and contractor, AT&V projects USA.
Job Responsibilities,
1. To Review / verification of contractor's detailed engineering drawings, safety related work schemes and their approval,
2. To supervise the project construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities to be executed by the EPCC contractor,
3. To Review of QA /QC and HSE plans and monitor for the system implementation. Generate monthly statistics of accidents, Accident Investigation Reports, and participate in weekly meetings,
4. To ensure that all the tests are properly conducted and reports are submitted on them.
5. In the absence of Project Manager, Initiate, organize and chair weekly site technical progress and monthly progress meetings.
6. To Co-ordinate shutdown activities with the contractor and the client,
7. To Review the materials supplied by the contractor has inspection release notes from the recognized agencies.
8. Check and approve the adequacy and authenticity of all certifications, insurance, performance securities, indemnities etc., for which the contractor is liable under the EPCC contract.
9. To Review and certify Interim payment certificates and recommend payments.
10. To Review all procedures, action plans, and method statements prior to the commencement of any activity.
11. To ensure that contractors / employers obligations under the agreement are strictly adhered to from the HSE point of view.
12. To review of the training programme submitted by the contractor to ensure that it is beneficial to the client.
13. To review and approve As Built Up drawings by the contractor.
14. To review Operation and Maintenance Manuals to ensure they are technically suitable and adequate for use.
15. To negotiate and recommend to the client any variations / change orders regarding the works and advise on any claims or contractor disputes and problems arising during the execution of works and prevent any claims and delays whenever feasible and appropriately.
16. To carry out final inspection, prepare Punch list / Defect list and certify and approve successful commissioning of the project under the EPCC contract.
17. To give inputs to the preparation of the Contractor's performance report and Project Close Out Report.
18. To participate in the settlement of disputes in accordance with the conditions of the contract.
