Position: Ore Reserve Specialist
Responsibilities:
Ore reserve valuation
Responsible for implementation of Mines E.M.P.R.
Involved as part of Management negotiation team with Dept of
Water Affairs/Environment/DMEA on mines EMPR
Location of sub-surface water/Additional reserves
Initiated studies on chrome chemistry- special reference to requirements of sub-arc furnace within plant.(see MSc below)

Gengold - Kinross Gold Mine
Position: Shaft Geologist/Evaluator
Responsibilities:
Routine Shaft Geology functions
Directly involved in Decline feasibility studies
Monthly mining valuation

Note: In all the above cases, termination of employment were in-group transfers to gain wider experience within the mining spectre

April 1995 - 1996
Harmony Gold Mine - East Rand Operations
Position: Ore Reserve Manager
Responsibilities:

Personally responsible for putting the mine plans onto computer (Microstation)
Geostatistical evaluation of the orebody, from ore reserves to panel evaluation (using DATAMINE)
Setting up Ore Reserve Management tools for Shaft management teams
Evaluating mine planning scenarios, in terms of due diligences, fluctuations in working costs, gold price etc.
Evaluating the impact of an ongoing rise of underground water that threatens to flood the entire mine, developing least loss strategies and devising working alternatives for use in negotiations with government departments

1996 – 1999
Harmony Operations – Evander Operations
Position: Central Ore Reseve Co-ordinator
Responsibilities:
Co-ordinated Geological effort of 4 Mines in the area
Harmony Representative in Libra Joint Venture Project with LTA – responsible for geological input in Project
Detailed to set up Geological Management systems over Evander Region

1999 – 2002
Broke away from Harmony to set up Deadline Solutions, a company specializing in writing Datamine based Menu Systems for Gold Mine evaluation and Ore Reserve Reporting. Subsequently, all Harmony shafts in the Evander area and all in the Orange Free State are utilizing this menu system. I have also been routinely used for Due diligence exercises

Datamine SA have utilized my services for conducting their Introductory Datamine Courses to other mines

I have also completed Due Diligence work for JCI, as well as Pypklip Diamond Mine, and have recently completed 3D modelling for Impala Platinum on their Crocodile River Mine, and have conducted Datamine Related courses on site.

2002 – Present

Direct involvement in various Exploration, contract mining and Resource targeting projects related to Gold, Platinum and Chromite:
1. Onverwacht Platinum Dumps - partnered in a deal that has acquired rights to Platinum Dump Mining in the Eastern Bushveld Complex from Anglo American. I was instrumental in the discovery and later exploration project that proved the ore reserve within the dump.
2. De Kroon Platinum Project – applied to Director of Mineral & Energy Affairs for Prospecting Permit on mid-level Platinum project – Projected however awarded to adjacent Mine.
3. Scheiding Chromite Deposit – Applied for and awarded chromite prospecting rights on the Farm Scheiding, with a 2km LG6 seam suboutcrop. After initial prospecting, sold off asset to 3rd party
4. Uvongo Mining Ltd – Applied for and was partially granted prospecting rights for far east basin of Witwatersrand Gold fields – those farms granted were insufficient to realistically develop on their own, currently selling these assets to Taung Gold
5. Naboom Project - Purchased platinum rights to 3km vein hosted platinum orebody in Waterberg from Anglo Gold. Proved up enough value to sell project on to Nasdaq listed Centurion Gold Holdings – Later Managed their drilling project on this deposit.
6. Current Projects - Secured prospecting rights for a 3rd party on a dunite Platiniferous Pipe as well as 20km strike-length of platinum hosted fault zone – currently busy with this exploration.
7. Contract Mining - Also currently busy with a contract mining agreement to retreat surface deposits of platinum rich material.

Apart from mining ventures, I am also extensively involved in a renewable energy process whereby I have completed the intellectual protection on a retro-fitting hydro-electric project that can be installed at most dam sites.

1. M.Sc. Thesis Contents

Title: Physical and chemical aspects of the MG1 chromitite layer, Eastern Bushveld Complex, Tweefontein Mine.
Major Findings of the study included:

1. The distribution of lumpy ore (preferred for sub-arc furnaces as opposed to friable ore), can be easily delineated underground, and thus preferentially mined.
2. Diagnostic features of the lumpy ore include silica content, specific gravity, and a modified tumbler test (as developed by the author).
3. Microscopic and chemical analyses of the ore show that there are certain variations and constant relationships within the ore, that once determined, are beneficial for its extraction and subsequent use.
