Experienced industrial plant electrical supervisor with excellent team safety record and outstanding performance in plant electrical/instrumentation availability.
EXPERIENCE
Freeport McMoRan Copper and Gold Inc., Morenci Division, 2000 - 2009
Senior Electrical Instrumentation Supervisor, Concentrator Division July 2007 - February 2009*
Led a department of 28 electricians and 3 supervisors in achieving and maintaining full production in a large WWII-era processing plant with 13,800V incoming power. Plant is ¼ mile long by 1/8 mile wide, in 7 levels under one roof. Equipment is run by 44 2300V induction motors, plus a variety of 480V motors and other motors and motor starters. Responsible for seeing that all electrical work is performed in accordance with NEC and Mining Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) standards. Work with supervisors to develop schedules and plans to achieve 100% plant availability. Assess unscheduled downtime, evaluate equipment condition, and develop detailed preventive maintenance plans to best utilize scheduled maintenance time. Ensure adequate staffing to respond to interruptions, and return plant to operation, while doing a thorough, complete repair job. Use reliability engineering and root cause analysis tools to create permanent improvements. Safety accomplishments: Goal is zero safety incidents or citations. We are coming close to that goal – we have had 65,000 hours worked with 2 minor incidents in the last 12 months. The last two annual MSHA safety audits of the plant resulted in only 4 observations for labeling, which were able to be corrected on the spot. Plant electrical performance: Improved from 8% electrical downtime in July 2007 to 0.09% (20 hours/month out of 23040 scheduled mill operating hours) in the fourth quarter of 2008.
