> PROCESS ENGINEERING DESIGN

Analyzed front end engineering design of ABB for crude oil processing and gas injection facility of Algeria installed by Halliburton. Conceptualized NGL recovery via turbo-expander processing scheme and prepared plant investment analysis worth millions of dollars in additional product revenue.
Sized equipment, reviewed P&ID/HAZOP and compiled detailed process specifications for gas/oil separators, desalters, storage tanks, chemical injection, and produced water treatment and compression facilities as part of detailed design of Algeria oil field processing facility.
Interfaced with vendors on mole sieves gas dehydration for the FEED design of three NGL plants of Qatar. Reviewed P&ID of NGL plants and for an offshore process facility of Chevron Angola.
Developed detailed Hysys models of oil/gas production, gas plants, Glycol dehydration unit (Drizo) and gas compression facilities of Chevron.
Supported schedule-A design of hydrocracking & hydro-treating projects for various local and global UOP clients including CITGO, Petrobras, ENI, Italy, Petrochina, and Bayernol, Germany. The project work spanned PFD/P&ID/plot plan reviews, PRV sizing and relief load estimation, and process equipment design via UOP licensed technology and specialized plant design procedures. Developed and applied plant wide hydraulic models for establishing the design basis for instrumentation, plant piping, pressure vessels, pumps, and compressors.
Designed in Tokyo a loading, storage, and pumping facility for Butane and Hexane involving P&ID development and pumps/lines hydraulics.

> BIOFUELS

Led a team of 3 process engineers for estimating capital cost of a project biorefinery for converting cellulose base feed stock to Ethanol.
Established design basis for equipment sizing and developed a plant Hysys model including heat recovery, syngas wash, bioreactors, and Ethanol sections.
Liaised with internal & external experts and equipment vendors of proprietary technology for resolving process complexity and costing and plant scale up issues.

> REFINERY RETROFIT
Reviewed P&ID and participated in the process hazard analysis and implementation follow-up for BP and Chevron refineries revamp projects including reformers, FCC feed preparation units and hydrotreaters.
Evaluated rental cooling for improving gas recovery of refinery LPG plant.
Identified and replaced a constraining control valve of a crude distillation column of refinery for improved product delivery by organizing test runs and analyzing the pump/lines hydraulics in Conoco Lake Charles refinery.
Performed technical support functions in liaison with operation and engineering. Developed simulation (Hysim, Pro-II), prepared P&ID/PFD updates, and rated process equipment including reformate stripper, cold/hot separators of hydrotreaters, pumps, and heat exchangers.

> OIL & GAS FIELD DEVELOPMENT
Coordinated as process lead for detailed engineering design of Rosneft (Russian) grassroots oil production facility. Developed P&ID/PFD, and hydraulic analysis of gathering lines with inter-disciplinary functions resolving processing issues.
Hydraulically, analyzed gas gathering network of Chevron Picence gas field resulting in millions of dollars saving in field development costs.
Supported World Bank funding of multi-millions dollars gas compression project by integrated simulation of reservoir, tubing, and gathering network of Sui gas field.
Contributed to Pre-FEED design of green and brown fields of Abu Dhabi Oil Company for P&ID, design philosophies and simulation reviews.
Participated in retrofit/capacity expansion projects of water treatment and injection facility for BP oil wells at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.
Analyzed pressuring/de-pressuring of miscible and gas injection pipelines for well pads operating under Arctic conditions.
Functioned as process lead for design of vapor recovery system for BP North Star processing facility. Represented process for HAZOP and P&ID reviews with BP plant operation and third party HAZOP deliberations.
Assisted in proposal work and design revision cost estimates for expanding chemical injection capacity for various flow stations of BP facilities at North Slope.

> PLANT START-UP & OPERATION

Prepared operating manuals in Tokyo for several process units of a Kuwaiti refinery revamp including Alkylation, MTBE, LPG Treating, and Shell ADIP regeneration units with details on process description and process upsets, pre-commissioning and commissioning, until start-up/shutdown, and trouble-shoot procedures. Coordinated with UOP/IFP on resolving different process and plant start-up issues.
Prepared operating manuals for Bangkok Refinery Deep Gas Oil De-sulphurizer, Fuel Gas Treatment, and Sour Water Stripping units while coordinating with Foster Wheeler and IFP.
Participated in a new refinery start up assigned to crude distillation unit in National Refinery, Karachi, Pakistan.

> REFINERY PRODUCTION PLANNING

Simulated production plans of refinery for assessing the product loss of under-design catalytic cracker involving multi-millions dollars in litigation between MW Kellog and Valero refining company.
Developed a complex LP model incorporating five different refineries of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation in support of refinery expansion strategy for reformulated gasoline. Identified lucrative inter-refinery transfer streams for improved refining margins. Optimized short and long-term production plans of Pakistan refineries.
