RECENT PROJECT DONE:
TITLE: DESIGNING OF JC HOOD ASSEMBLY.
DURATION: 3 MONTHS (15 JAN TO 16 MARCH)
TOOL USE: CATIA V5R18
BENCH MARK: Opel Meriva and Skoda Roomster
PURPOSE: Design and modeling of HOOD ASSEMBLY for Europe. Based on market survey of European automotive market Opel meriva and Skoda roosters taken as bench marked.
ROLES:
* Study about main competitors in European market.
* Discussion and evolution criteria by component based on
Vehicle level.
Availability of internal/external data.
Required equipment to support the process.
* Cost estimation.
* Timing estimation.
* Selection has been consider from JC product guide book by (HMTEC) product planning.

Process:
* gap b/n mating parts is considered with respect to both skin gap and real gap is bench marked by studying the bench marked cars.
* Considered the Pedestrian Protection lines based on the EURO NCAP regulations.
* Considered stamping direction 20 degrees to the z-direction(Theoretical).
* Location of parting lines considered as follows

-1 mm from radiator grill side parting line.
-3mm from RR COWL side parting line.
-1 mm from HEAD LAMP.
-1mm from FENDER side parting line.
-1mm from side cowl parting line.

MODELING USING CATIA V5 R18

* Created all the surfaces with respect to setup angle plane in order to avoid undercuts during drawing operation (-7/+7 degree taken)
* Modeled component by maintaining the bench marked gaps with surroundings components
* Considered the loading conditions and welding positions.
* Considered the piercing of holes less than +3/-3 degree to the setup angle in order to avoid the
REFRENCE:

* YN hood system selected as reference
* YN hinge position is forward to JC
* Burglar alarm position is carry forward to JC
* Static stiffness is tested under torsion, bending, locking.
* The number of mastic sealer points are 26 with the pitch of 162mm on the setup plane.
RESULT
Result has decided based on the test conducted by HMEC for pedestrian protection and static stiffness.

Title: MODELLING, MESHING AND ANALYSIS OF FOUR CYLINDER
ENGINE CRANKSHAFT

Softwares: CATIA V5 R 15, HYPERMESH V 7 and ANSYS 9.0.

DESCRIPTION

The project aim is to analyze the crankshaft under operating conditions. The 3D solid model is made in CATIA V5 R 15 and it is imported in HYPERMESH V 7.0 through IGES format where it is discritised into finite number of elements.
The discritised model of the crankshaft is imported in ANSYS 9.0 where the boundary conditions,loads and constraints are imposed on the model.

The static analysis is performed on the crankshaft to find the deformed shape and dynamic analysis is performed on the model to find the natural frequencies and corresponding mode shapes.

ACHEIVEMENTS:

 Received the best employee of the quarter award (october to december) in the year 2008.
 Secured the first position in the global catia contest conducted by namiyang R&D korea.
