EXPERIENCE 1993 – Present: Senior Geologist/Manager – CPS Energy, San Antonio, TX.
(1) Build and manage lignite mining project comprising 15,000 acres and 300 million tons reserves, including: (a) performing reserve estimates, and geological modeling, (b) assessing and acquiring reserves, (c) designing and managing royalty system, (d) ensuring environmental compliance, and (e) structuring and negotiating lease and sale of lignite interests, securing excellent ROI.
(2) Originate and characterize gas reserves acquisition prospects; develop, model, and manage natural gas reserves/volumetric production payments (VPPs) as gas supply option; originate natural gas storage acquisition and development plan, identify and characterize depleted reservoir candidates;
(3) Utilize TECHBASE Mapping/Modeling, ARCVIEW GIS, MANIFOLD GIS, and MICA Reserves Evaluation software systems to build base maps, geologic databases and models, and to perform geological evaluations and reserves analyses; utilize all components of MS Office Suite.
(4) Prepare and manage budgets for coal supply and transport; present reports, updates, and recommendations (oral and written) to management and board; negotiate contracts, select and oversee contractors and consultants; direct staff efforts to achieve group objectives.

Evaluate, apply, and direct horizontal drilling, including wellsite drilling guidance, well analysis and monitoring; generate and evaluate oil and gas prospects; design and model EOR projects.
1977 - 1988: Staff Petroleum/Coal Geologist, Phillips Petroleum Company and Phillips Coal Company, Odessa and Tyler, TX; Summer Geologist, U.S. Steel and Pittston Coal, Kentucky and Virginia.
Perform oil and gas field studies, model reserves and oversee drilling programs, adding significant reserves; generate coal exploration/development projects, design and lead drilling programs, and evaluate coal discontinuities.

MS - Geology, 1979, Eastern Kentucky University, Richmond, KY, Fellowship recipient and graduate teaching assistantship. Coal/Mining emphasis.
BA - Geology, 1977, University of Louisville, Louisville, KY, honors graduate.
