Performs maintenance on a variety of motor vehicles,heavy mobile and Light Wheel vehicle such as 1114,1109,1152,1151,and 998,1025,1097 normal Humvee,Working on special purpose equipment,such as diesel powered equipment,HUMMV,HEMMT,LMTV,HET,M871 Semi-trailer,M105 Trailer a and M967 Fuel Tanker,Generators and etc.
1.Troubleshoots equipment,makes adjustments,removes and replaces parts,accessories and components such as generators,alternators,fuel pumps,fuel injection,and etc. Repairs and adjusts brake mechanism,replaces brake shoe lining,wheel cylinders,and master cylinders. Removes and cleans or replaces fuel tanks,and fuel injectors. Removes and replaces major components and assemblies such as engines,transmissions,differentials,clutches and pressure plates,transfer cases,axles,steering and braking assemblies,etc. Makes adjustments and alignments such as ignition timing,points dwell angle,front end alignment and steering sector adjustment. Lubricates assemblies and chases is. Posts repair services to appropriate records. May road test vehicles in this process.
2.Performs initial inspections using a variety of test equipment, compression gauges,leak detectors,timing lights,tachometers,voltmeters,engine analyzers,etc.) to determine fault,cause of malfunction,and best repair method to accomplish repairs.
3.Performs body repairs by hammering out dents,repairing or replacing tailgates,bumpers,fenders,body panels,and floor boards;spot paints. Replaces and repairs decking and side panels on trailers. Makes minor repairs to canvas and leather equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE
Knowledgeable of installing a variety of components accessories and parts of systems,such as wheel cylinders,fuel lines,condensers,etc. Knowledge of makeup,operation,and installation of assemblies and systems of vehicles such as engines,transmissions,front-end and rear-end assemblies,steering and braking mechanisms is required. Ability to determine when parts should be cleaned and reinstalled; what parts and mechanisms can be reworked and refitted; what parts should be replaced with new parts; and the types and extent of adjustment and alignment needed. Skillful in removing and replacing major components and assemblies such as engines,transmissions,power trains,differentials,etc. Also Knowledgeable in adjusting,reinstalled,align and mes such components and assemblies.
