INTERNATIONAL EXPERTISE
* Brazil: Possesses experience in all three major producing basins of Campos, Santos, and Espirito Santo. Well-versed in all plays in each basin, such as post- and pre-salt, carbonate, and clastic, as well as Tertiary and Cretaceous, including deep or shallow water. Gained familiarity with all off-shore basins, including frontier basins, as well as on-shore basins, including frontier interior and coastal producing basins.
* Colombia: Knowledgeable of all major basins, including off-shore basins, as well as middle and upper Magdalena basins. Held responsibility for block negotiation and data-collection.
* Indonesia: Served in mapping, evaluation, and operations of six blocks in different basins of Java and Sumatra, Indonesia.
EXPERIENCE
DEVON ENERGY CORPORATION, Houston, Texas
Senior Advisor, Geophysical, International, 2000-2009
Organized, planned, evaluated, and bid on blocks in the Brazil ANP bid rounds 4-10. Directed teams of up to 15. Interpreted and mapped Frontier basins. Performed regional and prospect mapping, selected drilling locations, and managed work for discovery block in Brazil. Contributed to sale of Argentina properties.
* Created and edited document to justify involvement of deepwater opportunities in south Atlantic and convince management of best new exploration opportunities in off-shore deep water.
* Gained approval by management to pursue opportunities in off-shore, deepwater Brazil and Africa.
* Mapped and evaluated bid round blocks off-shore deep water in northern Brazil for fourth ANP Brazil bid round. Won block BM-BAR-3. Created and implemented exploration plan, including 3D seismic, piston-coring, and electro-magnetic sea bed logging survey.
* Held responsibility for block BMC-8. Reprocessed 3D seismic, drilled opportunities, and discovered new oil field currently producing 19,000 Barrels of Oil per Day (BOPD).
* Directed study groups for sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth Brazil ANP bid rounds. Awarded two blocks in sixth round with major oil discovery. Secured four Brazil blocks in round seven and two on shore blocks in round nine.
SANTA FE-SNYDER, Houston, Texas
Latin America Geology and Geophysics Manager, 1996-2000
Managed Geology and Geophysics (G&G) for Argentina oil and gas-field development and exploration projects. Led study group for Brazil ANP zero and second bid rounds. Directed group's work program, including seismic work program and 2D transition seismic program, as well as 3D seismic-acquisition and drilling program.
* Initiated entry into study group for Brazil prior to opening of Brazil to foreign companies.
* Oversaw group's entry and participation in joint venture with Petrobras.
* Awarded two exploration and one development block.
* Coordinated with engineering staff on drilling and testing of wells.
* Selected drilling locations, increasing gas reserves from 150 to 750 billion cubic feet of gas (BCFG).
SANTA FE ENERGY CO., Houston, Texas
District Geophysicist, 1980-1996
Held responsibility for all new-venture activity in Alaska, Argentina, Aruba, Bolivia, Brunei, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Gabon, Indonesia, Morocco, Myanmar, Pakistan, Peru, Seychelles, Sicily, Thailand, Tunisia, and Turkey. Established international exploration group. Selected six basins with oil potential for evaluation in various countries. Performed detailed study of Colombia, farming into two blocks in Llanos basin. Acquired seven blocks and directed five 2D seismic surveys. Drilled six wells. Conducted three-year study group with four companies over middle and upper Magdalena basins in Colombia.
* Joined study group in Argentina and won one block. Drilled four wells with discovery of gas field in fourth well.
* Oversaw far east study group of 55 blocks in Indonesia. Acquired block, discovering two oil fields and two gas fields.
* Obtained blocks in Argentina, Bolivia, China, Colombia, Gabon, Indonesia, Pakistan, Tunisia, and Peru.
* Formed and managed study group for Aruba and on-shore China.
* Formed partnership with Marathon Oil Corporation and awarded block in Gabon. Performed 2D seismic, drilled discovery oil well, resulting in new oil field discovery.
* Led Ecuador field study, evaluating sandstone and carbonate reservoirs, using seismic and well data.
* Managed Ecuador study group and evaluation after block acquisition.
* Directed Ecuador exploration program, resulting in three oil discoveries.
* Converted international division from performing paper interpretations to digital-mapping on seismic work stations.
