1. Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO), (Refinery), Bahrain:

Nov.1993 to Present:

Senior Plant Inspection Engineer (Acting) of Low Sulphur Diesel Production Plant (LSDP) consisting of i) Hydrocracker plant ii) Sulphur Recovery plant & iii) Hydrogen Plant at Petroleum Refinery + additional charge of upcoming new grass root Lube Based Oil Project.

1.0 Nature of Duties:

1.1 Process Plant Inspection:

* Inspection & testing of static equipments such as heat exchangers, columns, vessels, furnaces, lines & fittings, during shutdowns as well as on stream.
* Specify scope of inspection, provide short-term as well as long term recommendations regarding repairs & replacements.
* Issue inspection work lists detailing the methods of repair, materials to be used, fabrication methods, specify welding procedures/NDT methods/heat treatment, quality control & test procedures.
* Checking & approval of the quality and correctness of construction and repair work.
* Checking and verification of the equipment minimum allowable thickness (MAT), corrosion rates, service life estimation, determination of rejection limits and take corrective action accordingly.
* Maintaining history of individual equipments, updating inspection and repair records including data, anticipated repairs, and thickness readings.
* Monitoring corrosion conditions, evaluation of material performance in corrosive systems, failure investigations, root cause analysis and recommend up gradation of material.

1.2 New Grass Root Projects:
Low Sulphur Diesel Production Project (consisting of Hydro cracker, Sulphur Recovery & Hydrogen Plants) & Refinery Gas De-Sulphurisation Project.

* Piping material identification including positive material identification (PMI) using Nuclear Analyser at three stages i) incoming material ii) fit up stage & iii) PMI for welds.
* Welder Procedure qualification tests.
* Monitoring quality of welding for carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, duplex stainless steel etc, heat treatment, Non destructive testing – Interpretation of weld radiographs, witnessing dye penetrant tests and ensuring ultrasonic initial gauging etc.
* Piping fit up inspection and visual inspection of all shop & field welds.
* Preparation of punch lists for piping packages, ensuring that all the welds are visually inspected, NDT such as radiography, D.P, M.P.I., PMI & PWHT requirements are complied with spec requirements.
Confirmation of punch list items upon their completion.
* Witness hydrotesting of new valves, pop up tests for relief valves & hydro/ pneumatic test for piping systems and heat exchangers including fin fan coolers.
* Certification of handover packages.
* Inspection of furnaces/ Reformers/ stacks/ incinerator during site fabrication/ installation. Inspection included fit up, welding inspection of tubes/ structural works/ field welds of stacks/ incinerator. PMI of tubes and welds & hydrotesting of furnaces/ reformer tubes.
* Refractory inspection.
* Visual inspection/ PMI of ring type gaskets and flange mating surfaces after lapping.

1.3 Quality Control on Incoming Materials:

* Handling all material department and vendor's queries concerning materials and equipment specifications and other requirements.
* Review of vocab (ordering) descriptions, correct and update them in line with changes in codes and standards on a continuous basis.
* Inspection of company wide incoming materials for physical condition and compliance with specification and standards. This consists of review and verification of test certificates, their physical verification and positive material identification (PMI) of all alloy materials using Nuclear analyser.
* Assessment of supplier's fabrication/ manufacturing facilities.
* Evaluation and verification of material quotations from suppliers for technical part.

2. National Organic Chemical Industries Ltd. (NOCIL), Mumbai, India (Royal Dutch/ Shell group Co):

April 1989 to Nov. 1993:

Senior Engineering Officer at their Petrochemical plant in Specialist Services Department – Static Equipment Section (Process Plant Inspection Department) (Naphtha Cracker and EO/EG Plants).

2.0 Nature of Duties:

* Inspection of process plant equipments and piping during shutdowns as well as during service using Non Destructive Techniques, provide short term as well as long term recommendations regarding repairs, replacements. Carry out inspections during and upon completion of repairs.
* Preparations of inspection procedures & manuals.
* Corrosion monitoring using conventional techniques, service life estimation and determining rejection limits.
* Failure investigations, root cause analysis and technical recommendations to improve integrity and reliability of equipments and components.
* Selection of materials for new projects, improving existing material specifications as a service function to design and materials department.
* Inspection/Review of test certificates for materials procured by Materials Department.
* Contribute to the preparations of shut down work lists.
* Maintain a record system for process equipments and relief valves.
* Sizing and selection of relief valves.
* Inspection of Naphtha Cracking Furnaces during revamp, shutdowns, repairs and their failure analysis.
* NDT examinations such as Radiography, Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle and Dye Penetrant.
* Welding, Hydrotest and Pneumati c test inspection.
* Stagewise inspection at outside fabrication suppliers' shops whenever new equipments are procured.
* Assessment of supplier's fabrication/ manufacturing facilities.
* Stagewise inspection of re-conditioning of valves.

3. Engineers India Ltd. (E.I.L.):

December 1980 to April 1989:

Senior Engineer in their Process Piping and Equipment Department (Construction Division) at various projects as outlined below:

a) Mathura Refinery Project of Indian Oil Corporation.

b) Offshore Oil Platforms for Oil & Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) at following locations:
i) Mazagaon Dock Ltd, Bombay ii) Hyundai Heavy Industries Ltd., South Korea iii) Korea Heavy Industries Ltd., South Korea as Site Incharge iv) Offshore Bombay High and South Bassien Fields c) Maharashtra Gas Cracker Complex of Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd.

3.0 Nature of Duties:

* Review and approval of the drawings and inspection procedures required for the project.
* Determination of total workload, planning, scheduling and monitoring the project for timely completion.
* Approval of the deviations from the specifications during project implementation.
* Ensuring completion of the job as per specifications. This includes inspection of materials procured, mechanical/ welding clearance of the lines, NDT examinations such as Radiography & Dye Penetrant etc,
Certification of hydro/ pneumatic testing of piping etc.

Professional Certifications:

i) ASNT Level II in Radiographic & Magnetic Particle Techniques.
ii) Interpretations of weld radiographs conducted by ISNT (Indian Society of Non Destructive Testing).
