Project Drilling Engineer for deepwater exploration operations in VK/MC/GC corridor. This assignment included rotation of duties (planning vs. operations support) on a well to well basis, for a continuous drilling program. During the period, 7 deepwater exploration wells were drilled in water depths 3500' - 7000' with a dynamically positioned drill ship. The drilling program was characterized by continuous improvement in a multi-disciplinary environment, resulting in significant reduction of drilling time for GOM ultra deepwater wells, and setting industry performance 'Best in Class' benchmark. Other duties included mentoring of Rotational Drilling Engineers, benchmarking drilling performance vs. industry, and representing Amoco at various industry technical forums. In addition to specific project planning, I worked with the WEBG Well Planning Team to develop an inventory of exploration prospects, and worked with a OGCI consultant to customize a Well Project Management tool specific to GOM Deepwater Exploration projects.
