Implemented and continuously improved the maintenance planning department of a 120,00 tpd copper concentrator. Develop procedures for the planning and maintenance departments to follow. Helped implement a maintenance philosophy centering on reliability and preventative maintenance practices. Also lead teams that reviewed and revised our materials delivery program, quantity and quality of material we carry in our warehouse, and implemented SAP maintenance management system.

September 1999 – March 2001    
    PT Freeport Indonesia, Tembagapura, Irian Jaya, Indonesia
    Position: General Forman Operations Training

Directs all aspects of operator training for 230,000 TPD Concentrating division. Includes Crushing circuit with 3 secondary crushers and 7 tertiary crusher accompanied by a grinding circuit with 8 ball mills and a flotation circuit. Also includes a grinding circuit with 2 SAG Mills and 6 ball mills with two flotation circuits. Followed by a common tails, concentrate thickening, concentrate pumping, concentrate dewatering and shiploading circuits.
Set up, implemented, and is tracking a new operator training criteria and testing program. Develop and revise operating procedures. Developing operation’s supervisor, concentrator specific, management and teamwork training. Working with maintenance department and operations department in developing a one-team atmosphere. Involved in continuous improvement projects, commissioning of new equipment, and troubleshooting production problems

Directed, planned, scheduled, and coordinated mechanical and electrical maintenance for crusher, pit water system and process facility 15,000 TPD gold mine. Included gyratory crusher, SAG Mill, 2 ball mills, shorthead crusher, and CIL circuit. Ensured subordinates ordered and received correct maintenance materials before work was scheduled to begin. Ensured equipment repairs, hours, and tons were entered into MIMS system to help schedule work before breakdowns occurred and track improvements. Implemented a more predictive maintenance system using vibration analysis and failure analysis. Set up and monitored maintenance budget. Tracked mill liner wear and implemented design changes to increase liner life. Helped troubleshoot production problems and involved operators in plant design improvements and prioritizing of work.

Worked with operation’s to develop guidelines to reduce reoccurring problems caused by operator error. Set up and monitored maintenance budget.

Directed, planned, and coordinated contract mechanical and electrical maintenance for crusher and process facility for 15,000 TPD gold mine. Coordinated between KRM and Fluor Daniel maintenance personnel to ensure plant was properly maintained. Directed in-house instrumentation technicians. Set up and monitored maintenance budget. Developed and started implementation of preventive maintenance system in MIMS III. Developed schedules with Flour planners that incorporated operation’s needs and moved from a breakdown mode to a scheduled mode. Restocked warehouse with parts and supplies that were needed and removed obsolete items. Worked with operations, GIW and Warman pump vendors to maximize pump life with liner designs and operating strategies.
