PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Sept. 2000 - present: UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN
Research on Surfactant Enhanced Aquifer Remediation (SEAR) and soil remediation in vadose zone. Research on liquid and gas tracer application. Using 3-D simulator UTCHEM to simulate the SEAR. Supervising graduate and undergraduate students in their lab research activities. Worked on a site cleaning project for Chevron Oil Company and a remediation project in the Superfund Site in Hanford Site, WA.

Nov. 1999 - Sept. 2000: PURDUE UNIVERSITY
Conducted experimental research for an U.S. DOE supported project: Up-scaling of relative permeability. Activities included measuring permeability of different rocks at a range of scales and screening the properties (parameters) controlling the up-scaling of relative permeability of rocks. The porosity and pore geometry was modified in the experiments.

June. 1998 - Oct. 1998: SANDIA NATIONAL LABORATORIES, Albuquerque, New Mexico
Conducted research for an U.S. DOE funded research on visualization of surfactant enhanced NAPL mobilization and solubilization in a transparent fracture/2-D pore-network system.

Aug. 1996 - Nov 1999: MICHIGAN TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY
Conducting experimental and numerical studies on mass transfer during SEAR between NAPLs, or oil, and surfactant-cosurfactant remedial solutions. Assisted with pilot scale trace tests at the Hill Air Force Base, Utah and Dover AFB, Delaware. Supervised graduate and undergraduate students for their research and laboratory activities.

Jan. 1995 - Aug. 1996: SOUTH DAKOTA SCHOOL OF MINES AND TECHNOLOGY
Applied USGS MOC Flow model to simulate ground water and solute transport in a fractured aquifer. Conducted both experimental and numerical studies on microbial induced consolidation and bioremediation of fractures. Developed a standard foam-forming-surfactant screening techniques for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and environmental applications.

July 1992 - Dec. 1994: GUANGZHOU BRANCH, THE CHINESE ACADEMY OF SCIENCES (CAS)
Worked as an engineer on a research project, which investigated the effects of the global-warming induced sea level rising on the environmental conditions and economic development of seashore areas in Southeast China.

July 1991 - June 1992: GEOCHEMISTRY INSTITUTE, CAS
Worked on research projects, which used remote sensing data and techniques to analyze geological structures, to explore mineral deposits (gold) and petroleum resources.
