Marine Emergency Mutual Aid Centre (MEMAC), Bahrain, 2012 ongoing
Lead company in consortium formed to establish waste reception facilities at 45 ports in the Gulf, as well as 15 waste treatment facilities in eight Gulf nations.
Current status: Consortium scored full 25% higher than closest competition, formal award pending.

Offshore Oil Drilling Cuttings Treatment Technology Evaluation
Environmental Studies Research Funds, Canada, 2008-2009
Detailed assessment of current and emerging technologies for the offshore treatment of cuttings generated from oil and gas drilling operations. The project includes an evaluation of technologies utilized both locally and internationally.
Role: Technical Lead.
Remediation of Sungai Bera Holding Basin
Brunei Shell Petroleum Co. Sdn: Seria, Brunei Darussalam, 1999-2003
This $30 million dollar project encompassed the site remediation and Low Temperature Thermal Desorption (LTTD) treatment of 150,000 tonnes of petroleum impacted sludges and soil. This design-build contract included detailed design, set-up/operation and complete site remediation of a former disposal area for oilfield wastes. The project was highly successfully and completed in late 2003.

Ex Situ Chemical Oxidation Soil Treatment
CFB Greenwood, Nova Scotia. 2006-2007
Detailed design, bench-scale testing, tender preparation and construction oversight for ex situ chemical oxidation treatment of approximately 10,000 m3 of petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated soil.

Detailed site assessment and site remediation of a large free product plume utilizing dual-phase extraction technology under deep, perched aquifer conditions.

In Situ Chemical Oxidation Groundwater Treatment
Burnside Industrial Park, Nova Scotia. 2006-2007
Detailed design and operation of an in situ chemical oxidation remedial program to address a dissolved chlorinated solvent plume located under an existing commercial building. The project has encompassed installation of injection and monitoring wells, combined with periodic injection of hydrogen peroxide based chemicals.

Completion of a comprehensive sampling program and development of remedial options to address approximately 100000 tonnes of contaminated soil.

This site is a former DND firefighting training area. A site investigation was completed in conjunction with decommissioning of the facility. The scope of work includes development of remedial options, preparation of tender specification and supervision of remedial operations.

Remediation of Boeing 747 Crash Site
MK Airlines: Halifax International Airport, Halifax, Nova Scotia, 2004/05
A crash of a 747 cargo plane in late 2004 resulted in significant jet fuel impacts to soil and groundwater in and around the crash site. The scope of work included environmental emergency response, crash debris clean up, site assessment and remediation.

Detailed design, specifications and solicitation of quotes for supply of a wastewater treatment system for a facility providing vehicle and equipment wash services for oilfield operations.

Natural Attenuation and Risk Assessment Study
Hudson’s Bay Company: Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, 1998/1999
This site was a former dry-cleaning establishment with soil and groundwater impacts of tetrachloroethylene and daughter products, including vinyl chloride. The scope of work included completion of site investigations, natural attenuation study, risk assessment and development of remedial options.

Detailed Assessment and Mapping of Oil Spills at 300 Production Wells and Development of Remedial Options and Objectives
Pluspetrol E&P S.A.: “El Porvenir” Oil Fields, Argentina, 1997
This project required the mapping and quantification of past oil spills at the “El Porvenir” oil fields, which included the site inspection of 300 production wells. Following site investigation work, remedial options were developed for the oil field.
