Avion Gold Corporation, Mali Africa (underground gold mines, trackless longhole)
Employed as the Underground Mining Manager for two mines, during preproduction development phase through to production. Started development of the third mine. Responsible for safety, costs, mining contractor activities, engineering and Avion miners. Report to Assistant General Manager. Contract terminated due to corporate reorganization.

Barkerville Gold Mines Ltd., QR Mine (underground gold, trackless longhole)
Employed as the Mine Manager during advanced exploration phase through to production. Responsible for compliance with the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code of British Columbia.
Project achieved Zero Lost Time Incidents for the year ending in Feb 2011. Rehabilitation of a former producing CIP gold mill, pre-production development and production mining. Responsible for overseeing mine and mill operations, mine planning, carry out iKon production blasts. Hands on experience pouring dore bars. Involved in the permitting of new properties.
Left project as permitted reserves were near depletion.

Employed as the Mine Manager during advanced exploration phase through to pre-production development phase. Responsible for compliance with the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code of British Columbia. Involved in land tenure issues, environmental permitting and EPCM contract tenders for different phases of the project. Responsible for safety, costs and productivity. Project achieved Zero Lost Time Incidents for 2008 with almost 700,000 hours worked. Contract and site administration. Involved in definition drilling decisions, mine engineering challenges, equipment selection and First Nations Participation Agreement. Reported to Vice President of Canadian Operations.

Employed as the Technical Service Representative for four underground mines and various underground and surface contractors. Responsible for the introduction of new explosive products, testing and training. Certified i-konTM blaster and instructor (electronic detonators). As a result of my testing, Inco Thompson changed all production blasting initiation to I-kons in all 3 mines to substantially reduce their dilution and blast damage costs. Resolve product complaints, business development. Inventory management. Cost scheduling and allocation with SAP.
Site Operations Manager from March 2003 – March 2004 (manager on maternity leave). This is an ISO 9001 site producing approximately 100 tonnes of Anfo explosives per week. Responsible for the purchasing of raw materials and supplies, product quality control, management of production and delivery schedules, regulatory compliance issues, sales and shipping of product to six mines and several seasonal quarry and construction customers.
Proficient in SAP. Introduced new SHE (Safety, Health and Environment) and Quality Training initiatives to employees. Ensure that the targets for safety meetings, employee training and maintenance schedules are met. Assisted in the removal and replacement of the Anfo Plant; supervised contractors, issued work permits, ordered parts and supplies. Supervised the preventative maintenance schedule. Manage Human Resource issues.

Canmine Resources Corporation, Mining Division (underground cobalt and nickel)
On contract as Mining Division Project Manager. Primary responsibility was to take projects from the exploration phase through to development and into production. Responsible for the Werner Lake Cobalt Project in Ontario and the Maskwa Nickel Project in Manitoba. Operations suspended July 2002.
The Werner Lake Cobalt Mine is a proposed narrow vein shrinkage and longhole mine with ramp access. Responsible for the internal pre-feasibility study, mine planning, engineering, procurement, environmental permitting, scheduling and supervision of a new underground cobalt mine. Responsible for the hiring, supervision and training of mining crew, first aid, security and surface support staff. Maintained survey control, updated plans, environmental monitoring, completed payroll, acquired supplies. Supervised preliminary cobalt metallurgical testing. Assisted with Mozley Separating Table testing. Responsible for cobalt pilot mill design and construction. Unique inter-provincial permitting and regulatory compliance issues, as the mine is located in Ontario and the mill in Manitoba. Assisted with the refinery retrofit.
Also responsible for an internal scoping study for the Maskwa Nickel Project. Completed environmental baseline, surveyed the mining lease, metallurgical testing, mine planning, tailings basin selection and geotechnical investigation of the tailings basin and tailings dam location. Claim staking completed as required.
On both projects, assisted with acquiring surface leases, mining leases and environmental permits. Supervised consultants and contractors. Prepared annual budgets. Liaised with federal and provincial government authorities. Responsible for drafting and implementing policy and procedures for a new Mining Division. Responsible for implementing environmental standard ISO 14000 for the mine, mill and refinery sites using GreenWare software. Worked closely with Geologists on exploration decisions. Reported directly to the President/CEO.

Employed as Operations Manager. Responsible for organizing and co-ordinating resources to bring past producing gold mines back into production. Property evaluation (Arizona, U.S.A., British Columbia, Canada and Sonora State, Mexico), internal scoping studies, environmental compliance issues, selection of key resource people. Drafted and implemented policy and procedures for a new mining/exploration company. Scoping, feasibility, permitting and commissioning of a surface sand/gravel gold extraction pilot plant in Arizona. Operations suspended.

Tantalum Mining Corporation of Canada Limited (Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba)
Employed as Chief Mine Engineer. Designed and implemented longhole pillar reduction method in a room and pillar mine. Responsible for short and long-term development and production planning, longhole layout and blasting, surveying, rock mechanics and environmental monitoring programs. Installed and monitored stress cells. Monitored extensometers. Maintained mine production bonus system. Implemented SPC (statistical process control) for underground equipment and material consumption. Involved in surface engineering requirements including straightening the 10 km access road, tailings expansion, new dam construction and improving existing dams to comply with legislation. Mine Rescue Instructor and Equipment Technician. Conduct free fall tests for shaft conveyances as required. Deputy Fire Chief and ISO 9000 Internal Auditor. Acting Mine Superintendent for 24 miners and two shiftbosses as required.

LAC Minerals - Billiton Tin Project (Mount Pleasant Tungsten and Molybdenum Mine, New Brunswick)

Employed as a Mine Foreman/Engineer. Responsible for the supervision of crew dismantling the mine and mill, prepared geological and engineering data following a two year feasibility study of a tin orebody. Project completed, operations suspended.

Employed as a Mine Foreman/Engineer. Responsible for the safety and supervision of development miners working two shifts. Developed a two kilometre ramp to carry out bulk sampling and diamond drilling. Considerable hands on experience drilling, loading, blasting, mucking and ground control. Also responsible for the Mine Engineer duties.

Responsible for all aspects of mine engineering including planning and layout, surveying, ventilation design and monitoring, environmental sampling (including radon), rock mechanics and mine drainage. Employed by contractor as a Mine Surveyor/Blasting Technician. Responsible for survey control for ramps, alimak raises, equipment installation, development and production levels in a new gold mine. Also responsible for the layout of initial longhole open stope production blasting.
Returned to the Mount Pleasant Mine when the LAC-Billiton Joint Venture commenced.

Mount Pleasant Tungsten Mine, Billiton
Employed as a Planning Engineer. Responsible for detailed stope planning, development layouts, reserve calculations and the supervision of the survey crew. Installed seismic monitoring equipment for production blasts. Also responsible for compiling monthly statistics and the submission of production and development reports. Operations suspended July 1985.
Employed as Chief Surveyor and Ventilation Technician. Responsible for the design and monitoring of the mine ventilation system, including the monitoring and compilation of diesel exhaust analyses, atmosphere gas tests and radon daughters. Also responsible for the Chief Surveyor's duties.

Mount Pleasant Tungsten Mine, Billiton
Employed as Chief Surveyor in a new tungsten-molybdenum mine. Responsible for all aspects of pre-production mine development. Providing survey control for: excavation of major ramps, development and production levels, crusher station, ore handling system (including 1.3 kilometre of suspended conveyer belt), ventilation raises, diamond drill and blasthole drilling. Assisted with installation of extensometers, cable bolts and Swellex bolts. Worked closely with on site contractor Dynatec Mining Ltd.

Employed as Chief Surveyor at Fox Mine (copper-zinc). Responsible for training and supervision of a crew of four.
Employed as Blasting Technician. Responsible for the layout of 50 mm and 150 mm diameter drilling and blasting.
Employed as Rock Mechanics Technician. Monitored extensometers and hydraulic backfill.
Employed as Ventilation Technician.
Employed as Mine Surveyor. Duties included the surveying of diamond drill holes with the ABEM Reflex-Fotobor DDI and interpretation of results.
